I will be on my way up there as soon as he gives me an address to go to, so far all he has done is sent me a congrats on winning bid and ask me to reply and we could discuss transaction, but that was 10 minutes after auctions end and I havent heard from him since, replied but he might work nights, I did ask about car before bidding, it was only three day listing. One thing about pictures is they may not be current, didnt think to ask that, I guess I am just a trusting sole and figure everybody is as honest as me. If car is not what it was advertised I wont buy it plain and simple, hate to ruin my ebay rating but not gonna get screwed. As far as his zero rating we all started with zero didnt we, I just hope I havent uncovered Taillight Steve. LOL
I normally not a fan of big bumper Mavs, but I would be tempted to leave that one just as is... sweet car! I would be a little nervous about a) 0 feedback b) A Maverick owner that can't spell Maverick c) Payment in 3 days Definitely transact this one in person. If you have a friend that is a cop have, have him run that plate number. Best of luck.
Don't mean to sound redundant about the zero feedback & paid in full within 3 days but.....If you tell him that you are flying up to hand him cash & pick it up in person you will flush him out if it is a scam. If it's a scam he won't give you his address. He will just demand that you send him the cash now. Good luck because it is a beatifull Grabber & appears to be a great deal. I really hope this is legit. Please keep us posted.
In fact, I'd also be a little concerned because it IS such a sweet deal. I think the price stayed down due to the zero feedback and auction terms. Even though you can see things like that the front has been repainted, the little rust showing on the hood lip, the weird radiator overflow tank, etc, the car should have brought more in today's eBay market. I mean, the seats look great, the rest of the body looks really nice, and the options...well, they're just awesome. If this works out, you got one heck of a car, and I'd keep it as-is (with a restoration) due to the equipment and rarity of that particular year Grabber. Good luck!
yeah.....the stripe on the front fender is not correct....so that has been repainted. Still.....looks like a great buy.
Interesting how they didn't even come close on the stripe considering they had an example on the other side.
Shouldn't the grill be black? It's an awesome car, don't get me wrong, but with the fender, hood and grill being different, have a good look at the inner fenders and rad support, just to make sure it wasn't hit too hard.
Hood not an issue I still have the scooped Grabber hood off of my 72 from when I changed to carbon fiber, I saw what looks to be rust just above the lip on hood, did even notice the stripes were different on fenders though. Pictures of the car were taken last week or so he says that makes me feel better, he has gave me a grace period to pick up car told me Saturday is okay so thats better also, I seem to remember seeing a car very similar to this car or this car on Craigslist back a month ago for sale for $2,500, was in storage for 9 years and am willing to bet this is it. At this point all I want is the car we can deal with any issues it has later, heck if all I do is buy another Mav and swap out parts I will still be money ahead. As for the selling price I keep telling you guys that they dont sell for the prices you guys have to pay on right coast, although the popularity is starting to hit here now so the price is bound to go up. Will keep everybody posted on the car, thanks for the warnings and concerns. I am all freaked out now.LOL
Find me another just about like that one then for the same price then! Ha, ha, ha! A 75 Grabber was my first Maverick. It was a factory 302, 3-speed on the floor, with bucket seats. Light green with black stripes and black interior. I got it from the original owner when I was about 17. It had manual drum brakes all around; making two original 75's I've had without front discs even though all 75's were supposed to have them. I'd like to find one equipped just the way the one you're getting is - 302, automatic on the floor, bucket seats, p/s, p/d/b, and a/c. That would be perfect. Like I said, I'm jealous! Good luck. Sounds like it may be legit after all.
Alright Chuck, I will keep an eye open for you but with only 8,000 and some 75 Grabbers made it might be awhile, my first one was a yellow 302 3 speed on the floor manual brakes as well, no special features except buckets and black interior. I spoke with the person that has the car tonight and it is the same car I saw on craigslist awhile back he said he only had it posted for a few days didnt say why but I wanted it then but couldnt fund it. He had his son list the car thats why things were not quite right. Going to pick it up Saturday. Noticed broken grill good thing I have a stock of parts.
