I have searched up and down this forum and across the web and cant find if anyone has documented if/how a Wilwood firewall mount clutch pedal would work in a Maverick. Specifically something like the Wilwood 340-13834. This would be for a hydraulic conversion with a T5 in my automatic 72'. It looks like I might be able to tap through the firewall just to the upper left of the steering column but space above might be tight for the fluid reservoir. Im also unsure if the positioning works with the pedal reach inside the footwell. Has anyone taken a swing at this? Original manual pedal assemblies have been hard to come by in good condition, and the previous post about using Sn95 pedals seems like a less desirable solution.
Looks like it would work. High quality parts. Here's someone who did it with a Nissan clutch master, if I recall. Unfortunately, he ended up over his head and hacked up the car pretty bad, including putting the clutch pedal way over by the kick panel, but it's interesting.
I’ve watched his videos before, and going off my memory which could very well be wrong that master cylinder is actually in the wheel well not the engine bay.
Can see how I did my Modern Drive Line (MDL) install, near the bottom page 831 and continues on 832 There is another system, Malwood? That a couple members have used too........where you have outlined on your firewall, should see "punch out" for where factory clutch rod/boot goes, should be a "dimple" in the center too. Thank you! Your photos of the MDL setup is very helpful. That Malwood setup looks like the ideal for my experience level but Im sure if spendy. I'll probably take a look at that first. Have you had any issues bleeding your system?
That's right, his MC was in the wheel well so he had to step OUT to the clutch pedal. He did some things well, messed some other things up, and ended up selling it to someone in NY who intended to make a drag car out of it, if I recall.
No issues with bleeding the system, MDL uses Tilton throwout bearing which has the bleeder line at the top, so no problem at all... David
