yeah, the car was worth it in my eyes. "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder", is what they say so i guss i was looking pretty hard at this one. obviously no chance in saving it but it has some terrific parts for me and you guys.

not to mention, if i wouldnt have bought it then the owner was going to crush it. they was cleaning out an old junkyard and this was in the next row to go.

all in all, it was a good trip. the wife, my brother and his g/f all came as well so it was a nice outing. we also stopped at Cabella's in Hammond, IN and that place was awesome so it made the trip that much better.

and i cant say too much about this one.... it took over 16 hours worth of driving for my blue '71 and it wouldnt even crank over

I'm about to have to drive from the middle of Arkansas to southern Florida for a 4-door comet, so I can understand. It must be a rare shelby Maverick in disguise. or it has the rare shelby fender bolts.

I don't know yet. Dad has some time off in july and we're going on vacation to Alabama. most likely we'll drive down there then. Unless I can find an excuse to get down there sooner. I really want to pick up the car.

    He doesn't know when yet...

I thought about offering to ride down in the suburban and pull it back if you had a trailer. But looks like you got your pops helping you out

so far as where, we go to gulf shores. and it's dad's 4th of july days off plus some vacation days so starting about the 3rd and maybe 5-7 days of vacation. But yeah, thanks, but the only vehicle that will take us all down there is our tahoe and it's got a towing package, and my grandpa's brother has a tow dolly and grandpa has a oversized trailer, but I think the car should be able to be driven back. we'll take the dolly just in case though. I'm just ready to go get it.I'm excited about it, and it doesn't even have shelby fender bolts. :)

would i drive a 13 hour round trip for this one?!? anyone know????

Because you are just like the rest of us, tring to preserve our cars. I once drove to Dallas, TX for a car just for the grabber hood, after I got the car home I noticed that it had a few more parts on it that I could use.
By the way, how is the shifter boot?
