best paid score- not anything I could ever hope to fall into again. complete fresh BOSS 429, bored and stroked to a 504, NASCAR heads, BME rods, and I believe some holman moody lineage(as per the marking on the block) price= if I mentioned it outloud I would have people wanting to kill me (even more than they already do) best freebie?..... read above- at this point who cares?
I've owned a lot of dif cars over the years,...but never a chevy guess you dont belive photographic proof huh?....or eyewitness statements either :bananaman
my best is the yellow 70' that I got from Ward in a trade with a 73' that was given to me by a MCCI member in TN. All it cost me was gas (it wasn't so high back then :evilsmile ) and a over night stay with Ward and his family in Missouri.
My best paid for score was a 1959 Mercedes 190 Diesel with a four speed on the column. It would 0 to 60 in about 35 minutes. I bought it on Thursday, spent Friday detailing it, called in ad to be in Saturday's paper, and it was sold by 7:30 AM on Saturday for $1,250. NOt bad for having the car less than 48 hours. That was in 1982. My best ever score and the one I wish I could back is the 1967 Ford Fairlane that my grandparents gave me when I was 17 waaaay back in 1975.
I got my $76 comet for $200 and my 70 mav for $130! and for free, i also got two good aluminum slotsfor free.thats about it.but i feel bad because all my hard work is rotting in north carolina.im cometless and mavless i feel naked! but theres some good storys on this thread.
I got a grabber hood and misc. maverick parts for free, just had to drive to North Carolina to get it all.
Best Paid Score: Excellent Grabber Hood for $25 Best Free Score: All the lumber I used to build my barn.
My '73 was given to me by my Mom!! I was given two rust free doors and a pair of pop out side windows for free from a good friend on the board. Thanks !!!!!
My SECOND best score ever was the FREE New Old Stock Grabber hood ...never been painted...never been on a car...Never had scoops bolted into it. The guy Threw in a new front chin spoiler (MAS.) In 1984 I purchased a Wrecked ,one owner 72 Grabber with a 1957 Ford 9" axle, Built up 289 with ported 302 heads and a SHELBY intake. Top loader 4 speed from a 66 Fairlane with a Hurst shifter. complete black grabber interior which was stored in his moms attic, a MINT set of Cragar S/S Wheels and the new old stock flat hood (with the T-ram hole cut out)... I paid $500.00 for ALL of it.! The Best score ever I have YET to disclose on this board...Stay tuned.
