What would my car be worth?

    I agree too but he's not asking what WE would give for it. I wouldn't give much for it either. But I'm sure there are guys out there that would pay a little more simply because everyone doesn't know as much as some of us. I still think it would bring anywhere up to the $1800 range...if the right buyer was to see it. $1800 is not a lot of money for a good running drivable car anymore.

    Ray that is true ... but for the Maverick knowledgeable we know what a heap of work and trouble we would be getting into starting with a car that has cowl, floor, 1/4 panel and possibly other sheet metal issues. If that car was given to you for free .. would you fix it, part it out or just try to sell it and not bother messing with it ..

    Whenever somebody asks me the value of a Maverick ... I check it out and decide what I would do with it if it were given to me free of charge. I have seen lots of cars that I would just say no thanks to even if were free. If the premise of it being free excites me and has me thinking about repairing it and keeping it ... then at that point it has value and the valuation can start from there. Some cars are just worth more as parts cars ... other cars are worth more as scrap metal ... but like you say ... to the right buyer this may be their dream car ..

    I'm with all you on this. Those quarter panels, you won't be able to tell anything was done to them when I'm done. Like I said, I'm in the process of repainting it. So body work is a MUST for this car.

    As a matter of fact, this car was given to me. It was in a lot worse shape than it is now. I've countless hours of work into this car. The floors are good, just the driver's side floor pan was bad, but I replaced it with fairly thick aluminum. You'd never know it. Done much interior, exterior and motor work to this car. It barely ran when I got it. Now, it just won't stop! This car is a tank.

    You know, I don't really have any intentions on selling it now. Too much blood, sweat, muscle, time and heart into my car to even put a price tag on it. I'm sure y'all know what I mean. As far as the cowl leak, I'm not too worried about it. Someone on here told me about a place that makes magnetic covers for them. So when I park it outside, just slap on the magnet!

    Thanks you guys for your input. I know these cars are not worth much. But they're still cool!(y) Wish me luck on my paint job and engine swap!

    Jamie, it may look like it has rust issues. Yes, it does/did have some rust issues. But a little hard work and time pays big for someone who knows about such things.:cool: (btw, if you're seeing the rust at the bottom of the door, it's just surface rust. No holes)

    Every single car I've ever owned had rust issues. (well, except for my new Jeep:D)

    My first 3 cars had to be bondo'd. Heck, my 75 4-door was a bondo wagon before I bought it. And even then I had to do some work to it. Trust me, I'm not unfamiliar about body work.:D

    After this car is painted, y'all won't recognize it. Maybe next week I can finish the body work and get er painted before the weekend. It all depends on my work schedule. In the meantime, it's a rust bucket. :bouncy: I may be young, but I know quite a bit about working on cars. There's not a bolt on my car I haven't touched.

    But I don't know everything. I'm constantly posting threads on here with questions. You guys have helped me through a plethora of problems, and I greatly appreciate it! Thanks to all!:tiphat:

    This is the problem with pix's! They never tell the whole story what looks good can be bad & what looks bad can be good. I myself have a hard time looking @ a pix and being confident enough to give a answer on it. The other thing that is tuff is even when your car is done the way you want it and feel it looks great "Someone will Smack it Down". Trust me last weekend @ a show I had judges rolling around on the ground under my car just triing to find something to pick at (they cound'nt find anything up top)! Theirs always a ton of opinions out there!! Don't let it bother you do it the way you want it! Good Luck

    I understand exactly where you are comeing from, but my question is how are you going about repairing the rust? Are you cutting the bad metal out and welding in new metal, or are you just riveting aluminum over the rust holes and covering it with bondo?

    Please understand I mean no offense. Hell, I have a piece of plywood under the carpet in our '72 daily driver because my friends kept getting their feet stuck in the rust hole in the rear floor board. My point is just that there is the right way to fix problems like that and then there is the temporary way that may last a few years at best.
