the Rotella i completely agree with....

but when it comes to Valvoline.... well needless to say that their -World Headquarters- are located in Lexington, Ky (which is 45 minutes from the house) and i would drive there for all of the oil in the plant. ive seen too many bad experiences first hand with it to use it in anything of mine, but to each his own of course :Handshake

As far as Lucas products go. Being a tech I'm really critical when it comes to so called additives. I as well as all the techs I work with would back the Lucas products 100%. We use it in trannys as a maintenance item and it was part of the Ambulance inspection/maintenance schedule.
I use the Lucas line myself and it does just what the bottles say. Very impressive product.
I had an old spirit with the good old a604 tranny. It had nasty cold weather issues with delayed engagement Then go into limp in. Tried the Lucas additive and it got rid of about 90% of the cold issues and the trans went 3years before it finally broke. I'm sold. The guys at work have similar stories.

All my vehicles run our Chrysler bottled oil refined by Esso. Except my Jeep that really likes Mobil 1. My 300m with a 3.5/250hp power plant burns Mobil1 at almost 3 times the rate of regular bottled oil. Different engines like different oils. Mav gets 10w30 Chrysler/Esso oil.

I run Amsoil in all of my vehicles. An oil change and new filter runs me like $54 bucks. It claims to be a 25,000 mile oil and filter, making it cheaper than bargain oil and filters. Personally I still change it at around 5K. Its really not a lot of money considering how much you are spending a year and the value of what you are protecting.

Dont even get me going with filter magnets... Here's an old thread you can read. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=38382

in a class i took along time ago penzoil is susposed to be parafin based oil and would leave wax deposits in motors. as why alot of people use castrol, advertiseng. i run kendal oil in my motor as my engine machinest recomended it. funny thing is i had a friend who was a rep for le (lubrication engeniers) oil, and he said that in there friction tests kendal rated poorly but lots of racers sware by it. i use valvoline in my wifes car. i would be interested in the problems that people have had with valvoline.
