Sorry 73Curtis, it looks like we have two conversations in your thread.

    Jeff,
I'm not sure how that would work out. Have you somehow modified your existing harness?

You would have to surgically remove the sport lamp wire out of the harness. If you are grafting this into your existing harness, I'm not sure how the power originates to the sport lamp switch and also the supply side of the relay.

If you used the entire Grabber harness, I don't know if there is any differences in the instrument cluster wiring. It might be a good idea to compare the two diagrams.

Yes, the brown/orange sport lamp supply wire has a pin in the fuse box side and a corresponding plug on the firewall side of the plug for the sport lamps. You can get the pins and wires out and add them to another harness. That is how I modified the NOS standard engine harness to Grabber spec.

    Micah-
Only thing I've done to my wiring, other than relocating the fusebox closer to the beam selector switch, was eliminated the seatbelt override switch, removed the yellow box, added courtesy lights under the dash, auto dim mirror and electric trunk release. The early and late models have different number of wires going to and from the cluster and turn signal switch. Wasn't planning on going that deep...just getting the wires needed for the Sportlamps and relay. When I had things apart relocating the fusebox I didn't think to look to see if extra wires could be added to my firewall connector or if it would call for a Grabber specific connectors. If I need a different connector I know of several Grabbers in the junkyard to get what I need.

    Jeff,
The harness on the left is the NOS stock '71 engine harness and on the right is the Grabber. The brown/orange wire with the red tie wrap on it is the one you will need for the sport lamps.

On the dash side, I'm not sure what you will be dealing with there. My harness was amazingly pristine and I did not modify it.

On the engine side, I also grafted in relays to take the load off the headlight switch and get better voltage to the bulbs. If you are going to be adding the sport lights, this would be a good time to add the relays to your headlight circuit.

    Micah-
Thanks again. Picture are worth 1000 words. I am planning on stuffing relays for the headlights inside a gutted out voltage regular since I have an internal regulator. Shouldn't be notice at first glance except for wire color.

FWIW, the sportlamps will come on with only the park lights on.

    Paul,
Mine come on with both parking and head lights. Just came in from the garage to double check that. It has always worked this way for me.

Since the diagram indicates it is fed from the brown wire, I dont see why yours would not be on unless some change was made down the line which is not reflected in the diagram.
