What is in the trunk on a 69.5 ??

    Yes - that is it (or part of it). You can't see all of it as it hidden behind the trunk liner. I circled the parts in green that you can see in the picture and drew in about where the parts are you can't see in blue.

    Would like to know if it can be took out, my 70 model has it. It bolts to the top of the tank. Some kind of cover plate would have to be made for it.

    If you did remove it, besides the violation of Federal law, you would still need to put in some kind of vent for the tank. If you just sealed up the hole you will have problems getting fuel to the engine. I am not a fan of the power robbing emissions junk on engines, but something like this uses no power.

    If you dont have to get emission inspections, remove it, plug it all up and put a standard 70 vented cap on. It will work just fine. I doubt the Feds will be after emission violaters on a 70 Maverick.

    unless im mistaken, the filters on those work kind of like the charcoal filters on a respirator. no real benefiet to removing them and unless you want to modify the tank setup to be standard or special, the excess work to bypass it completely doesnt sound worth the while. im leaving my stock underhood one in place and considering taking it apart to replace the innards.

    Mine is my convertible project. When ever I get back to it, I will rip it all out and put a mustang tank in it.
