Ok guys, here's the layout... I would like to stay away from new front suspensions. In Pennsylvania, I have annual yearly vehicle inspections. My car is ready to pass, except for this. For some reason, the guy who shaved the shock towers must have weakened something somewhere. It's not like I have a big motor, it's just a 200. So the weight factor from the motor is irrelevent. I was driving to a friend's house when I noticed the steering getting real bad, when I just had a front-end alignment done. I also noticed the bottom part of the shock towers is bent inward more than a half an inch. Why is that?
Also, I really do appreciate all the help and suggestions I've got from you guys. Y'all have helped me many times and I thank you! This is an awesome forum with awesome guys. Please, keep the help coming!!
i can assure you that if that redish part is where they were shaved , it would be right into the spring , my cut is about an inch maybe less away from the spring... can you get a picture of the inside of the towers?
is this the new plate you welded in or is it the other side?? more i look at this the more it looks like fiberglass:16suspect
i think he took the plate off and found a crack under it .that brown color is where the plate use to be. think its bending and cracking from torq and vibration.the engine oil pan might be hitting the bar or a sring might have broken from temp changes,or the fool that did the job in the first place might have used realy thin steel.theres lots of small reasons of "why" but it can be fixed within a weekand.

Yes it is the new plate. The brown/reddish color is where I painted the steel to keep it from rusting.
When I first got the car, it had a thin piece of aluminum covering up the "shave" job. It looked stock, until I took it off and discovered the hole in the shock tower. The only mods I did to it is the 1/4 inch steel plate I welded in. No grinding, except to get a good ground for welding. The driver's side is about what this side looked like.
_eddie1975_ The first pic shows how far off the tire is on the pssengers side. The second and third pics are of inside the shock tower. Would've gotten better pics, but the dang lug nuts are stuck from the weather we're having. So I couldn't get the tire off. Oh, well. See what y'all think. You mean the steering arms? Hitting what? I am kinda new at this, have had 2 mavericks, and only 19 yrs old.
Hey y'all, I'm hitting the sack. But please keep the help coming!! If I don't get it fixed, I'll either take it to somebody to get it fixed, sell it for parts (anyone interested?), or drive it off a cliff. Which sounds better to you? Good night! Please keep the help coming, because the cliff sounds good about now... j/k
