Fel pro PN 1250 intake set comes with a block off for the exhaust crossover and has larger than stock port openings for ported heads/aftermarket intakes.

Mr. Gasket has a similar set of intake gaskets. Got mine at Advance for around $15.

i went to the speed shop...they had intake gaskets that have a block off plug to block off the egr port at the heads......YAY!

cool intake off a bit....i got the heads put back on today....took them to the speed shop...they said dont worry about it....the port was laready open....it will be fine

but i did manage to find out...my springs are 110-115 pound springs...so they said..if i get bigger cam...get better springs...that god i checked that out first....

other than putting the engine back together....things are good today....except my torque wrench decided to break...had to borrow my friends....

you know...the lower head bolts are a pain in the BUTT to get a torque wrench on...in fact...2 bolts cannot be reached by the torque wrench....

    hmm....good-n-tight method might be used

Take care torquing those head bolts. The 302-351 is bad to have the intake manifold lift pressure off the heads causing head gasket failures.
There is supposed to be a new torqu guide out for them. I think you torque the long bolts 10lbs more than the short bolts.
I would try all combos of extentions and universal to torque those 2 bolts you had a hard time with. Maybe a cows foot on the end of an extention will help.
Just trying to help out here. I am not a mechanic just work on my own stuff. I had a 351w leak oil into the combustion chmber one time due to improper intake torque. I alway pay real close attention to torques now.

oh yeah so do i.....i always torque....i am sure that everyone that has a 302 knows which bolts i am referring to....i dont have anyhting that can get in there to torque...if i was at the shop where i did the engine install i would have access to everyhing...here at the house..i have a lot of tools ..just not everything...

i managed to get a friend to bring some extensions and a 1/2 drive universal...so i think we got it....

The performer 289 intake doesn't have the port for the EGR anyway, its not getting to your intake. Whether you need a gasket to close that port depends on your next intake choice.

heh... mine doesn't. port is not machined on the intake, just a smut spot on the intake where the hole is on the gasket.

I wonder why mine has no port but yours does?

I didn't think the Performer 289 was available with EGR. At least older versions you had to get the 302 intake for EGR, don't remember what model exactly... its been a good while since I was shopping Edelbrock for intakes.

update on car...i got the heads on yesterday and torqued.....my son got the headers on and tight( i gotta recheck them) and then i got the intake on today and torqued,... so wednesday i will try and get the rest done....

today i did find that my stat housing is rusted all the way through where the hose covers it, but rusted nevertheless...so now i need a new housing and i am getting a high flow stat...

is this a good stat to get??

Serious power estimate, if ported properly, 20hp or so. Don't expect the world to chant your name, but every little bit adds up, and most of it adds up over 4000rpms.
