Jeez, running 10's with a NA 302 isn't hard anymore. I would think that making a blower motor to run 9's would be a walk in the park, but then again, what do I know.
Im talking about a car weighing 3500 #, Radial tires, with full interior, running pump gas, highway gears, driving 150+ miles to the track, in 90 + degree weather ,pull through the gate, get on the track ( without cooldown ) and run in the 10,s. And im not saying cars cant do this and be even faster, but it wont be but maybe 1 in 50 that can. Ever been to the pump gas drags? Most of these cars can only make one banzi pass then its broke. Been there the last three years, saw what the magazine dont want you to know. All im saying is running 10,s with a blower is easier than trying to build a high compression motor that is going to destroy itself on the street. Yes i could tractor gear my car and spin the motor to the moon and still run 10,s but why? when i can run 10,s and run the motor on Pure pump gas for 10+ years. P.S. I also have 500 watts of pure stereo power for those 150+ mile rides. Wanna join me on one? I thought you had one of these blowers and were faster than that?
Nah, I never had a blower on a car. Only my truck..but it came factory with it. I am a turbo kind of person. The truck is almost boring to drive...no different than a naturally aspirated ride, only a lot more power and a lot more noise when I stomp on it. The Maverick is naturally aspirated and runs lower mid 9's 1/4. 5.90's to 6-flat 1/8. Besides, there comes a time to separate street cars and race cars. I've had both...and both in the same car...and breaking down in the middle of nowhere with no help and mail-order-only parts is not my idea of fun. It happens too. It may take 100,000 miles for somethign to break, but it WILL break, and usually in the worst possible place at the worst possible time. That's why God invented trailers...to pull the race car to the strip, beat on it, and if it breaks, pull it home. Maybe someday I'll put together another hot rod street car but not anytime soon. Would love to do up a pickup truck again...big block, lots of weight and lots of power. Actually wouldn't mind doing another Maverick, assuming I could find one cheap enough and in good enough condition to use.
blower I've got that exact setup and if I can ever get this ignition issue fixed ,I'll see what it can do. Previous owner claims 11:64 with a 2:30 60 ft time.
Mine misses to bad to find out. previous owner claims 11:64 with 2:30 60 ft times.... but it is that same set up near as I can tell.
