DAMMIT!!!! It seems all I'm hearing is that the MCCI is broken, can't be fixed, and needs to put out of its misery. I absolutely refuse to believe everything I'm hearing - from both sides - and refuse to believe that there is not not room for improvement.

Old ideas can be new again with new blood and participation. There is nothing new under the Sun. I'm trying to offer ideas that can make a difference. If they are rejected for valid reasons, so be it. But if they are rejected simply because it was done before and didn't work, I will keep it up. If you think I'm wasting time offering my help, support, ideas, etc., because you've already made up your mind that it's useless, please allow me the courtesy of peeing on the electric fence myself.

You know what is really the tragedy is in all this crap about the MCCI and the MCG? Look at the bottom of the opening screen and see how many have been on this forum. It's a shame that there is only 300 members between two clubs. That's waht needs to be the focus. Vibrant, functioning state chapters will go along ways toward solving that situation.

I would join the MCCI, but it'd be a sure thing if I knew there was a meet within 800 miles of me at least every couple years.

Hawko's on the right track, at the very least his suggestion leaves lots of growing room for the club, where as the current layout kinda leaves many stranded.

You're not stranded if YOU host the show.

I know I'm not the most popular guy here and this may sound strange coming from somebody who is not pro MCCI. The MCCI isn't broken. It is strong and will have success as it always has. Even with what personal differences that exist between me and certain people, I feel the MCCI is a good thing and has it's place in the maverick community and always will. They earned it....and set the stage for others to follow.

The flip side is not everybody wants to wear Nikes, some people want to wear Reeboks. That's just life. They may both be shoes but that doesn't mean they fit the same on one foot to the other.

I realize that, as I was there,... the question was raised what needed fixed , I simply made the suggestion to contact past state reps, but that isnt really fair or relevant now , ...they are "past" reps for a reason.

when a person is passionate about something, that person inturn trys to do the best that they can for that something.

if that person is constant feeling opposition, frustration, and headaches, the passion will go away.

I feel the MCCI is a good organization, and I've never said otherwise. and yes all organizations have room for improvement, thats the human flaws materializing out thru them. does it happen overnight,....no.

I hope the mcci has continued success, as well as this new thing john is doing. nothing wrong with diversity. getting a person to join a club is one thing,.....having an active membership is a another. the more people that join any car club can only be a positive thing, as at least in joining they are taking that first step toward getting off of the sidelines.

good luck and continued success to all.(y)

I don't have the time, money, or organizational skills to host a show. I'd like to enjoy myself, I'd like to help, I'd definitely pitch in -- but I'm in no position to do something like that.

Thats all fine and good....and easily understandable. We all do this for a hobby. This is not our full time jobs. Until somebody steps up and says they will do it....thre is really nothing we as club officers can do. :(

I've been trying to get other people in Northern California to attend one of the local, non-Maverick shows for a year now. So far nobody else comes. So I was the only Maverick again at the Fun Ford Sunday today. I'll probably be the only Maverick at the Good Guys Get Together in Pleasanton in November. There are about 6 or 8 Maverick owners between San Jose and Sacramento, and I can't seem to get any of them just to show up at a local show, not even a Club Meet.

The Fun Ford Sunday is put on by local car clubs, mostly Mustang, Falcon/Comet, and Thunderbird clubs. Why isn't the NorCal MCCI one of the clubs involved in putting on this show? Maybe they'd get a better turnout from Mavericks. Several people stopped by my car and said, "Boy you don't see many of these around here." Too true!

The NorCal MCCI could be involved. All it takes is somebody (or somebodies)to do it. Very difficult for any of us to do it from this side of the river.

I applaud  all of you. Rep's, members, non-members etc. You all have made valid points. I was a member of the MCCI for the last couple of years. I decided not to rejoin this year because I felt that the club had nothing to offer locally. It is highly unlikely that I will ever be able to attend a major Round Up because they are so far away. I understand what the folks in California feel like and I'm alot closer. Being a non-member if you will allow me to say my peace. I, like Terry believe there is room for improvement in the MCCI such as local/multiple state get togethers. I've seen many posts by Terry trying to gather a few MCCI members or website members together just to hang out, cruise, eat or whatever. I don't know about the other state gatherings but it does'nt happen in Florida but once a year and you don't have to be a member of the MCCI to attend. I've got a few more ideas but I'll sit on them for now. Thanks for listening.

You don't have to be the MCCI state director to put together a meeting. I'm just a little fish in the Maverick pond, but I wanted to put something together and i just dood it.:yup:

All it takes is people to step up and do it. Don't think your state has enough Mini-Meets....then host one....or two. The MCCI will never have the "feel" of a local club. We are too spread out, not enough members to have a true "local" feel to it. True for all National clubs unless your are the Mustang Club of America with 11,000 members. Not joining...or rejoining the MCCI sure isn't the solution. It takes members willing to roll-up their sleeves and getin' er done. I am sure that Coop out in Washington State feels all alone.....but he is doing one heck of a job. The MCCI wants more local and multi-state meets.....but it takes somebody willing to do it....and it takes people willing to attend it. Ken....if you have more ideas and solutions.....I know we (the MCCI) would love to hear them. Just pick up the phone and give one of us a jingle.
