Thanks, that's some great info. It appears all of my C4's are the older case fill models.

Something that I am unclear of though. Here is a quote from that site:

My engine is not an HO engine, as it is from a Lincoln Town Car. That statement leads me to believe that my 1985 302 is 28 oz. because it is NOT an HO engine. Which means I can use the 1972 302 flexplate I have in my shed?

Now, I have been under the impression that ALL 302's from the early 80's and up were 50 oz.? Someone steer me straight here.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Jamie, Ford went to the 50 oz imbalance in 1981. Assuming your engine is untouched it will require a 50oz imbalance flexplate.

A little something else I thought of today....You will need a front sump oil pan, and matching oil pump pickup. Also, the 85 block has the dipstick in the block, not the timimg cover, due to it being a rear sump [fox body style] oil pan. You will have to plug the hole in the block, and if the timimg cover has the flat boss for the dipstick, you can just drill it out, some came with the hole already with a press in plug filling it, some don't even have the flat boss. If that's the case, you will have to find an early style timing cover.

Right now we decided to use an older 302 I have with the correct oil pan and flexplate already on it. We are going to build the Lincoln motor up a little before dropping it in. This car has to be running and ready to go by Monday night. I don't see getting the Lincoln motor in and running when I don't have the correct flexplate.
