you have to get an angle gauge to check this. you measure the u joint angle on the rear end and the transmission. i dont remember the spec for sure but you subtract the two numbers and and a good working angle is like 1 to 3 degrees..... in my auto tech class i was shown this and my instructor said alot of people over look this and should do it on alignments...... most dont tho
The manual lever seal pushes in from the outside of the C4 - there is no way you could put it in from the inside. You must be thinking of something else.
I misstyped. What I meant to say is that I could not find a way to replace that seal without removing the valve body. (If there is a way, I would sure like to know) I had to pull the valve body so I figured why not freshen it up.
You do have to remove the valve body but it can be done with the transmission in the car. Once the valve body is out, it is a matter of pushing the kick-down lever shaft in while you pull the manual lever out. Then you can pull the seal and push a new one back in. Paul
