Whats going to be red and whats going to be black? Red car with a black tail panel? Stripes? How long can you safely wait after a basecoat and still be able to clear over it with no issues? Cant wait for those pics AC
Ok, ok! Here's the pictures. Sorry for the wait folks. It took forever to get the car masked up so the red could be sprayed on. Just ask Dan . It took over 4 hours to get it taped up. You're right Dan. Tons of tape! Dale is spraying on the clearcoat as I type this, so the pictures only show the car in the primer and the basecoat. I will post the finished job tomorrow. To answer stockhatch'es question, you can wait up to 24 hours between applying the basecoat and the clearcoat. To answer Mavaholics question, we are planning to bring them both out to Carlisle in the spring. We still need to finish off the underside of the car and put a new stainless exhaust system on it before then. Heres the car in primer.
And here it is both colors in just the basecoat. I have other pictures but they don't seem to want to load.
I really like that color combo! I have had several guys here at work talk about Miss November..... Car looks great!
Jean I want to ask about your paint booth. Is that in your shop and where you all paint? Just wondering how much stuff you get in your paint if any. I know Todds blue car looks good and Marks car looked real good in person, do you sand and buff everything? That is what I have to do but I love the way a sanded and buffed paint job looks so I would probably do it anyways. Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong. The car looks good before clear good luck, love to see it shining. Dan by the way I bet you love November.
I paint in my garage and to keep out as much trash as possible, I dont run an exhaust fan. Running a fan in a every day garage just sturs up alot of dust. Plus, no matter how you try to filter the incomming air, a lot of trash will be sucked in from the outside. The disadvantage is visibility. By time I'm on the last coat, Its down to about 5 or 6 ft. But as long as you know where everything is, thats not a big problem.
wetting down the floor in a garage helps a lot, we paint all the time, nothing spectacular, but pretty good for a novice job, hopefully if I get in gear, I'll be able to paint my car next summer Shaun
