I will be glad to sent some money to help, you are doing a great job, I understand that you and Craig( at MCCI) should't have to do all the work and I just sit back and click

Stephan; I have supported your efforts in the past, and will continue to in the future. You provide us an invaluable service, and you should not, and as far as I can see, will not have to do it on your own dime. Thanks again, and keep us posted, and let us know what is required to keep the board up and running.

I will add one more thing......

Maverick "subscriber" sites have been tried in the past. That just doesn't seem to work. Let's face it....we own Mavericks/Comets. By definition, we are cheap :) Why pay for something when it is available somewhere else for FREE. This site, in my opinion, must remain a free site in order to be useful and enjoyable.

I will do whatever it takes to make sure it remains so.

    cheap???

    Stefan,
All I can do is echo the thoughtsand praise of everyone else's posts. For the last year or so(since owning the "chick magnet"):p this site has been wonderful, a nice community. All that tech stuff makes my head hurt:confused: and I need to replace the exhaust manifold gasket today($$$$ and time).:( So....whatever your solution is, since last decisions seemed to work well, let me know as well and lets keep it rollin'.
P.S. the $65 yr doesn't seem to bad.:)
P.P.S. Just sent in my MCCI form and $$:p

    I agree with...

...Craig, Dan and Dennis, and several others. The board should remain free to continue the obvious growing interest in these cars. More than that, I enjoy chatting with you lads as well as newcomers! If it had been a pay site in the beginning, I probably wouldn't be here.

Count me in, I'll stroke a check. I probably could be persuaded to buy a website if it could be about my car.

    Questions -to you and Craig

1- Is it possible to make these fees part of the MCCI membership?

2- To cut down on bandwidth and space used for pics, I love pics, can you give us suggestions on free pic posting services and tell us how to do that and post links instead of pics? Would that even be worthwhile?

Although the advertising banners concept doesn't work well, I would think that AutoKrafters, who sees the viability in a Maverick only catalog, could pony up $500 for sponsorship.

I too appreciate your work very much, not too long ago when you changed servers and the site was down for a few days, I just about had a panick attact.. I thought "what if it never comes back? What if I never talk to them again, how in hell am I going to finish (start) my restoration now without my supersource??"

On all the other boards I go to, they don't allow people to upload pictures. I am sure that this takes up very valuable space. Why don't you disable that feature, so that we have to link our pictures in the IMG tags??? That should save some $$$$

here are a couple of free image hosting places for those who want them.

    www.imagestation.com

    and

    http://imagehosting.soldiersites.com/logout.php?t=1

the second one is a little easier to use, and free, don't pay attn to the price, it is a free service, just sign up and enjoy. also, don't pay attn to the unauthorized access message.

if anyone does not know how to use the image hosting to post the pics let me know, and I will walk you through it.

Although I know very little (nothing) about free picture hosting, I do remember using one and after a while they shut the doors so all the pictures were gone. I would rather pay what ever it takes to keep everything in one place so we dont have to worry about it.

I agree, I would rather chip in and pay something and have the board retain what we have now. I am sure most of us would agree that those who use the board would more than get their money's worth. As some others have mentioned when the board went down for the change over and was not available for a few days it was missed. I just think about the benefits that the board has given us, such as great information from others, classified ads, and the club news etc. etc.! The board has become a big part of our hobby! :)

One question . If you are gonna host webspace , does the content need to be autmomotive related ? ( I am not talking about porn )

    To answer Seth's question:

Can't really combine your MCCI membership dues with any donation/fee to this website because:

    1. They are not related
    2. Stefan is in Canada....MCCI is in the USA
    3. The MCCI is a federally recognized Not for Profit organization. We have to file taxes, papework, etc. Combining the MCCI fees with this website would really complicate things.

I would like to see this website stay exactly the way it is....including being able to post pictures. Again, I am willing to cut a check to keep it this way.

How difficult would it be to register a "dot com" domain? I know that wouldn't solve the curent dilema, but you mentioned that dot coms were cheaper than dot "to"s.

I tried Maverick.com but nothing seems to appear on my browser...

I am willing to pay to use the board, but I don't think it would be good for the board if it was required, that would push newbies away really fast! If you decide to require that it be a money membership board, maybe you could have a option for a 30 or sixty day free trial to keep bringing in new guys and get them hooked.

    Thanks!

I am really happy that everyone is willing to help and as long as I can freely host the site, I do not want to accept any money. Ill only ask for it when I will really need it.

As for the hosting and domain name registration, im setting it up and it should be ready in the next couple of days.

Registering a domain name is very simple and should only take a few minutes. However, it will take 24-48 hours for the domain name to propagate around the world.

Your website can be on whatever you want as long as it is legal.

I want to keep the MMB the way it is now. I do not want to make it a two-tiered system and I want to keep the option of image uploading. Its simple, works great and as they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words"

If anyone has any individual questions they would like answered, feel free to email me.
