The fact is that Maverick (Comet) itself has beautiful & sporty body lines (2-door models) and most people can recognize this, and when you get rid of all the extra crap (or replace what's missing as the case may be) and clean them up, there is absolutely nothing ugly about them.

That's not a fact, that is your opinion. You need to learn to differentiate YOUR opinions from facts. Just because you think it doesn't make it so.

Many afficianados of other makes of cars would find it absolutely laughable that a Maverick enthusiast would turn their nose up at anything.

That being said, I agree with you 100% on this Drag-N-Fly thing. Ugh! Reminds me of the Corvette in that Corvette Summer movie. Double ugh!

"Like I said, the Drag-N-Fly is a bastardized Maverick....period. People have every right to like it if they want to, but my telling it like ( you think) it is, is not being disrespectful. I realize it's not "politically correct", but you'll never get that" :deadhorse

OPINIONS expressed herein are not necessarily those of all within" Smile TL its just friendly banter.. No hard Feelings man :Handshake , ;) the Irony here is I actuallly agree with your opinion I don't personally like it either, but I can appriciate any car that is nicely restored or maintained in original condition very well. I just disagree that, that is how it is. Nuff said ok? :Handshake

Hey, I have no hard feelings about it either. I am not, nor was I ever angry about anything. I'm not taking any personal stabs at anyone. It's "almost" funny that some of you guys think I actually get P!$$&d-off about this stuff. I lose no sleep over it. I'm just all too willing to express my strong opinions......I mean facts about things. I really think that car is a joke and an embarassment. Some of you guys like it. No big deal. No one's hating on anyone. Also, anyone who turns up their nose at a nice Maverick/Comet is just a snob, I don't care what anyone says. Those Mopar guys are a good example of that (from another thread). They think their cars are part of some "elite" group or something. Well I say B.S. to that (and I love Mopars).

And yeah, that 'vette in Corvet Summer was ugly...

TL I agree there basically was nothing appealing in that movie period.

I have shown Picts of some of the most beautifully maintained Mavs and Comets, on this site and others,, to my Wife, Seems color is what drives her to like or dislike it, Ive seen her turn her nose up at a 71 Grabber ( baby blue) and then like a big bumper Comet that is all black or red, she doesn't see what we see Long hood short deck fast back design, simple to work on. Now take her White Grand Am SE, that car she went nuts over:huh: , even though it is nothing more than a refergerator white rental car:slap: .. in my opinion. My Comet yeah it needs a little work, but for an Iowa Car its in pretty solid shape. Anyway some people leave their automotive tastes to the " Popular" cars, Camaros, Vettes, Mustangs, but then miss out on all the other iron that is out there.
I get just as charged seeing a mint condition 71 Ford LTD:yippee: , as I do a '71 Mustang.
It's all in perspective, people like what they like. Maybe Drag-n-Fly just has the wrong name. Maybe if it were Maverick 302-Z, it'd have done better:) , then maybe it could sprout wings and fly too:rofl2: . What I still want to know is why they never had a Comet XR7 or a Comet Eliminator, wouldn't that be a cool Comet!! Take er easy TL

T.L has been around here for a long time;) He has strong opinions and I respect his honesty even if it is blunt. I'm glad not everybody on this site likes the exact same things and agrees on everything to a tee. Would be very boring and all mavericks/comets would be identical. So enjoy the diversity that is www.maverick.to I know I do:Handshake

BTW T.L. never attacked anybody in this thread so I say let him speak it's a free country(y)

CometKurt Glad you love comets and mavericks, sounds like you share a very common passion on this site.
