I get depressed all the time, mostly for no apparent reason. Its effected my jobs, relationships, etc.I`ve learned to deal with it without any medications,I just find something to keep me busy.In the past month I got three tickets, lost my job, lost our family dog of 16yrs,got a suprise fine in the mail for $102 for missing a $0.40 tollbooth, and then some.and as long as I kept my mind off of it all I`m ok.But I do have to go to court thursday for those tickets and I`m starting to really worry about it,there all BS tickets, but I can`t afford the miniumum fine of $500 that I`m facing for only the one ticket, thats one thing I can`t ignore, but on the bright side,my lady-friend just told me a few days ago that she is moving back up here from Tennessee,so I atleast have something to look forward to! Anyways,I`d be working great for a while, then one day out of nowhere I`d get extremely depressed and lazy for no reason at all,I can`t explain it,and nobody believes me.We all have our problems, its nothing to be ashamed about.Hell,we like Mavericks, theres GOTTA be something wrong with us for sure then right?!?

Preston, you, like a lot of other supporting people on this board, are good folk.

Us old folks on here can tell when troubled youths get on board - you, my friend, should be considered normal and genious compared to a lot we've seen.

Lately, there seems to be a lot of hate for fellowman by guys your age. 'Glad to know you're not one them just to be 'accepted'.

Chose to be happy - it's your birthright. (y)

Thanks again for the response and support! I know that everyone who gets depressed knows in their heart that other people feel the same as them, but it is hard to convince your mind of that little detail. I appreciate the stories and suggestions also! Ya'll take care and Thanks again!! Preston

Preston I've read most of the other post on here about your problem.

I too have had a fair share of things in my life to deal with, once I found out that tomorrow is another day with new beginnings and that the good Lord WILL ANSWER YOU!! All you need to do is one simple thing... ASK

    Ask and you will receive
    Seek and you will find
Knock and the door will be open to you.

Try the A.S.K. see what happens
I got my first two daughters (both older then you) and a new look on life with that one simple thing!

    As always just my .02

May the good Lord keep you safe.

    Depression and Sleep Apnea

about 10 years ago i started fighting depression. dr's shoved pills at me all to no avail. still felt depressed. started gaining weight. lost interest in ALL the things i enjoyed doing. had no energy or desire to do anything. of course sex went out the window. after several dr's, one suggested a sleep study. let me tell you. that was an eye opener. seems i have severe apnea. turns out like this, lack of quality uninterupted sleep is a leading cause of depression. well things got screwed up and i needed to repeat the study and it showed i need oxygen fed into the breathing machine. anyway it seems apnea affects all ages. if you snore ask your dr if you can have a sleep study. worst that'll happen is you spend a night away from home. by the way, we aren't far apart. i live in lumberton. wanna talk or meet pm me for my number.

Thanks again for the warm responses folks! I hadn't thought about the sleep study. It's a thought because I sleep so hard I hurt the next day. I guess I'd consider myself a good sleeper though. :D I like the A.S.K., never heard it put like that before (in the ASK form)Thanks for the support! Preston

Preston, I got your call the other day but it was late and so I figured by that time you iether got some advice or ran out of gas :) I haven't met (on the phone that is) a more polite kid or a kid with their head on their shoulders in a long time. I think by reading these posts you can see that you're not alone and the depression in one form or another is going to strike your whole life, I too am very thankful for God, my wife, son, family and friends! It is great to get on here and read something that puts you in a good mood, or something that just makes you laugh out loud. So sorry we didn't get to meet in person. You can call anytime. Ward
PS (To everyone) I have developed some good freinds and a brother(well might as well be) from these boards and meetings("they might be psychos, you can't just meet some one from the internet" :D). I would urge anyone that can possibly make the round up to do so. You will get to know some one there and have a friend or friends when you leave.(How was that for a plug :D) Really, these boards do wonders for us as an outlet to fellowship and I'm greatful that we have them, thank you Stephan and Matt. I'm serious about the Round Up though, come and see.

Preston I've been fighting depression all my life. You are not alone and even though most of us will never meet each other, I think of the people on here as real friends.
Like everyone else I'm here for you anytime.
