you will most likely strip the threads before breaking the strut rod. Use penetrating oil a day before you try and loosen the nuts...not WD40. I have used heat before trying to remove the nut

You wont hurt the rods or the arms...It is possible to strip the threads on the nuts/rods though.Do like Mr thomas said, soak em with PB Blaster or Kroil a day or two ahead of time.Use a big breaker bar too.Pulling up an old post is a good thing when you need the help and cant find the info.Notice you are learning more each day? :thumbs2: Good luck with the front end re-do.

if you break it, that's good, it was cracked already and you found it before it happened in the street...(y)

Thanks guys. Yea, I'm learning tons! This is my first front end re-do. I feel like I'll be a maverick encyclopedia by the time this is done from reading all of these threads lol. I keep thinking I'm going to break something trying to get this stuff apart, then once it's apart it seems easy.

hmmm... I don't suppose they make box wrenches that attach to breaker bars do they? the threads stick out too far to get a socket over it. Any ideas? I thought about using jack to try and move the wrench or whacking the wrench with a big hammer.... are these my best two options?
