I've been waiting for a good car story ever since the unfinished Maverick at the bottom of the pond story
The rest of the story: I get a call around 8 last nite from an old friend (who I'm shure was working his butt off to get the word out). Seems his older brother got a call Thursday from a meth-head in-law about a mustang for sale for $700. He didn't want anything to do with a stolen car, but the guy kept on. Later he told his wife about it, she had seen the posts on Facebook. He put it together, called the guy back, got details about the car, and shure enough it was mine. He told him it was a friend's car, and gave him the option (bc its family) of walking away from it. Guy rounded up the parts (most of them) and left them in the car. I got the call this morning with its location, went and loaded her up. Not 5 minutes after calling to report that i had it, the phone call from the county came in, telling me that I shouldn't have moved it. I felt like saying "i tracked it down, loaded it up, and was on the road before you finished your second doughnut!" ...but I didn't. It's safe (not at home) but its safe. Some damage to the grill/ latch area. The carburator is gone, along with the battery, and autozone console, cheap speakers, and fire extinguisher. The shaker scoop is in the back seat, with the radiator, and distributor. They were about to pull the motor. It's not pretty, but its so much better than what i expected to find.
Ironic thing (maybe the miracle of it all) is that the meth-head called the wrong guy on his cell phone.
seems like you got it back in great condition considering what could have happened in that time period...insurance going to cover all lost/damaged parts? id be mad if my battery was stolen..paid like 225 bucks for it lol.
