    If you are talking a engine before mid '80s it will be a flat tappet, at least unless it's had a $$$ roller conversion...

    im thinking its tappet the builder put in because i told him nothing fancy, my engine is a rebuilt 68' 302. i had him build it as close to factory specs as possible

    Should be aflat tappet cam then... I looked into the other style that changes the flat tappet to roller when building mine and it was a fair bit more.
