The white wire changes the ignition timeing when you put power to it. No real need to put power to it IMO. I cut mine off flush with the box.
I'm guessing you using your original solenoid as is and putting a jumper down on the starter. Once you remove power from it, it should disengage. I think its just the starter. Maybe the bendix on the starter is sticking due to rust on the shaft from sitting in a junkyard for so long. I have a mini starter in mine and it works fine. Personally, I would not make that cable to the starter "hot" constantly.
As far as the white wire, I never knew it changed timing but that would make sense. If you look at the wiring diagram for the DS, the white wire is only used in the start mode.
Well, I've rewired it without the jumper and now it disengages properly. Sorry Dennis, what can I say, I like to live on the edge And as mentioned in the other threads on the subject, the difference in the way these things sound compared to the stock starters is a bit freaky!
