Sounds like a dumb question--How do I fill my gas tank?

I remember having the same problem with my first Maverick, and my 70 Mach-1 Mustang too,....of course, this was in So Cal with those P.I.T.A. spring-booted gas nozzels.
My current Mavs are both still under construction, so don't know yet if I will have the same problem.

I've been considering a fuel cell for my 69.5, so I could just do the "in trunk" fill up (or even custom make a filler tube to fit with my factory cap) I would like to find one that'll fit in the already available drop-in tank opening, but have yet to find a cell anywhere close to the same dimensions as the opening, unless I have one custom made or something.

I hate smelling like gas when I go to pay for it.....and even those "moist towelettes" can't seem get the smell off your hands (or worse, your face!! :49: )

I also have had problems with filling Mavericks (and other old Fords) so today I took the fuel filler necks out of 4 Mavericks and found 4 different designs.

The other 72 had no baffling at all. So the question comes down to...Do any of these designs work better than any of the others?

BTW, while junkyarding today I found a NICE 70 fuel tank in San Diego, CA. Anyone have need ?

That 1970 gas neck must be a California thing....never seen one like that before....especially at the tank end.
