yeah I have a 250 right now, So the truck motor should work right , if I change the sump , were truck motors of that era rollers? That is the thing sticking me up.. go for Mustang roller motor which I beleive the 90 is.. right ? and dump the AOD and bolt it up to my c-4 ,

i thought they were all rollers from 86 up but i could be wrong

either way your swapping the pan.

they say the 6cyl C$'s are too week for v8's but thats another maverick myth im going to investigate with my swap. if i kill it, i kill it. we'll just pick up the pieces from there lol

Yeah I heard that too, but it just takes a little beefing up to make it work, this truck it is in is an 86 and has C-6 tranny is that an automatic tranny? Is it typically the bell housing that gives problems, or will any 302 bolt up to my bell housing

the 250 bell housing works on any small block i believe. 351W/C's being the largest.

all the threads ive read said the C6 isnt worth all the modification it takes to get it in. and yea, it is a automatic.

NO I wasn't thinking of keeping the c-6 just wondering if the input shaft would be the same sounds like the bellhousing would work,

I cannot produce polls, anybody up for creating one for v-8 conversions showing different donors they have used ? then people could vote on the one they used and make comments on what worked and how hard the mods were.

The last year for the C4 was 79. Your C4 from a 250 will probably have the same parts in it that the 302 C4s had. The 90 AOD is a good year but you will have to beef it if you are going to do any hard driving or engine mods. The AOD will run about $300 for parts and another $100 for the tools to rebuild it. For $400 you can build a heck of a C4. Just something to think about.
Any 302 after 1974 or 1975 will be the same whether it is in a pickup or a car - unless it is an HO or Hi perf. The same compression was used and all the internal parts are fine for cars or trucks unless you are going to go into the 6000 RPM range - then you have to look at aftermarket parts to replace the weeker parts in the 302. Either way it won't matter whether your 302 comes from a truck or car.

I am going to look at the 90 Mustang /tranny Motor combo Sunday .the 302 for the 86 ford P/U sounded good but he Wants $350 for just the motor, I am leaning right now, (depending on how things look Sunday) for mustang deal . Maybe see if he will sell just he motor with out the AOD , then bolt my c-4 up to it, I fhe won't separate I'll just sell the AOD unit, I'm not gonna drive it hard, though i will beef it up as I go either way I'm going to be moving slow on this as i have to scrape funds together for every step along the way. Is there a step by step somewhere on how to pull a motor? tools needed, things that have to be done, etc
