WOW, I just went and re-read this entire thread again. I'm not up on Windsors so I keep to myself on the subject but it sure sounds like someone put a very large foot or 2 or 3 in their mouth.
My only issue is how he handled him self talking down to a couple youngsters as if they were clueless.....everybody is wrong at times.....I have eaten humble pie a few times on here I know a lot but there are 5 or 6 guys on this site that are just beasts when t comes to this stuff. In other words you csn trust most of what they are saying
Sidesho I you for your character in the way you have handled this in the end ,it takes a big man to admit he is wrong :Handshake looks good on you. Jimmy
mine supposedly has a 351w in it out of a 79 lincoln versailles. it doesnt have headers it has manifolds on it. but after reading all of this i am thinking of getting the numbers off it to see whether its really a 351w or a 302...
Some (few) Versailles came with 351Ws, but I would imagine the manifolds would be perfect for a Mav. I would like to see pics (if you can squeeze a camera down there .... ... I'm laughing because I am pretty sure I already know the answer to that ... )
will an Edelbrock Performer 351W intake fit on a 302? My guess would be no since a 351 is wider than a 302 (right?) also, on the driver side the steering box is literally touching the manifold I am guessing it wouldn't be that close if it were a 302. I could be wrong.
We all make mistakes, it is the way you handle them that says something about you. The 86 5.o the original poster found on Craigslist has the flat top pistons that cause problems sometimes right? Not sure but think I have read something about that on here before. Something for him to research and think about. As far as telling a 351w from a 5.0/302 if you can get a socket and extension on the lower thermostat housing it is a 351W. That is because it is taller than a 5.0/302. Easiest way to tell if you cannot tell by just looking at them. Been around them enough you can tell with just a glance by the width of the intake manifold. On a 5.0/302 you have to use a wrench on the bottom bolt which I am sure 90% of ya'll know. Just one trick that some might not have thought about to tell. clint
