Doesn't it feed the exhaust gases from the bottom? You have the adapter plugged but it gets fed from the bottom - If you plug that port you can either do away with the whole adapter or keep it looking like stock with the EGR valve in place (for decoration because it can't do anything) to retain a stock appearance.

I plugged the exhaust manifold but kelp the EGR unit between the carb and intake.

I was thinking about what would it take to remove the CA smog equip from my car but was putting it off...I'll do the research here plus I have a good "old school" mechanic I know will give the advice when I decide to tackle the issue. BTW the car runs fine, so for now i'll leave it...

The air pipe has already been cut off and folded closed by the previous owner so blocking off the EGR should get it closed off. My EGR valve probably wasn't causing any problems being on there, I just see no need to have a dead EGR valve cluttering up the engine compartment...especially since the engine is in my 70 model car now. I would like to remove the ends of the pipes at the spacer and manifold and plug them, but they don't want to budge.....and I don't want to strip anything out.

This weekend I am going to remove the themal valve and plug the hole. Then look into eliminating alot of the useless hoses. I'm also removing some of the stuff off of the air cleaner housing and plugging the holes with rubber body plugs or rivet block offs over the holes. Also get my new carb installed.

I've gotta do some more reading tonight, but I think about all I need to keep is the pcv hose and a couple vacuum hoses.

A little bit of rust penetrating oil...not WD40, the night before and a line wrench the next day is all it takes to remove it. Might want to tap on the wrench with a hammer to shock the fitting...if you pull on the wrench with your hand then things get ugly.

Sounds like you're familiar with this so I'd like to ask....where do I look for the correct thread plugs? I did manage to get the one out of the end of the pipe under the spacer and I took it to my local Lowes and couldn't find anything that would work. Pipe threads look different and I didn't see anything large enough. Did I over look them or where else could I source plugs that size? Thanks

I got my plug at Napa. I handed the gal my fitting and she gave me the plug and I gave her a dollar.

Well I got everything off of mine I could. I wasn't able to find plugs for the air pipe so I left them the way they were....cut off and closed flat. Here's the EGR block off. I also removed everythng I could from the air cleaner...I still need to go get 1 more smaller plug. The heat stove shield was about to fall off anyway so I also took it off.

I got the new carb on and only hooked up the clean air tube to the carb, the hose frm under the manifold to the top of the carb and a vacuum supply to the dist. vacuum advance. It runs like a champ and it's alot less cluttered.

Looks a lot better. All you need now is a can of spray paint. I stuck a short piece of vacuum hose on my snorkel. The other end isn't hooked up to anything...but it looks like something is not missing. http://1bad6t.com/Maverick/maverick_12.html

That's why I stuck a plug on it. It plugs nothing but otherwise it looked like something fell off. Everything under the hood is going to get painted as soon as I get all the bugs worked out. I just can't find any paint I like. I've tried one and it was way too light. I ordered some from a Mustang supplier and it is too dark. I painted that throttle bracket I made with Rustleum Royal Blue. I like it best.
