From about 1976 -78 the snorkel hood scoop on my Stallion had BOSS 302 lettered on it. And most thought it really had one in it. I was going to put one in it and was building it when all my parts were stolen. Great stories guys and gals.

one of my son's friends asked what kind of car i had when he saw me working on it,...i told him and then he looked at the engine and said that doesnt look that fast... i offered to take him for a ride and he said ok... i then asked him how fast he thought my car was and what kind of car he wanted...he told me that he wanted a 95 civic because they are fast and pimped out they look cool.... he is 13-14 years old... so i said oh yeah....so my mav is probably too slow for you then...maybe i shouldnt take you for a ride...and my son INSISTED that i take them for a ride...so they clambered into the back seat... and i went around the block once... when i got back tot he house... garrett said, "i HAVE got to get one of those!"

another kid hooked on american muscle....God i love my car!

just wish it was allittle faster on the track LOL :)

by the way..i never went over 45 mph...but he swore that we went 90-100mph...why you ask....wel lyou all should know that these cars are just plain awesome for torque

back to the boss 302 thing. i got a 74 grabber, for free, that the guy swore had a boss in it. the first thing i did was pop the hood and check out the carb. it was only a 2 brl so definatly not a boss. that was his only selling point on the car. when he found out i knew it wasn't a boss i got the car for free.

I love everything you guys have said about the BOSS 302...I hear it from so many people, mostly people that don't even know anything about fords. And of course I'm a girl, what would I know about what Mavericks had in them? lol

I get lots of looks and attention in my faded, slightly rusty, slighty beatup 2dr 71 mav. esp when i turn into a green blur. it's the only mav in the town (i think). and everyone knows the car, and me by it, "that long-hair dude driving it". ppl think this slightly disheveld car "gots nothing" until i make a misubishi eclipse or some such back down. fun car. unique car. i love my mav.

today, i was at the shop, one of my neighbor workers came over and was looking at the other cars,he said he used to have a maverick, when he was younger, and asked me if i had ever seen one, i just chuckled and told him to turn around. he was standing right next to mine.

Today I was at a gas station in Tennesee and some old lady came out and said she used to have a orange Maverick. Said her husband bought it new for $2,400 in 1970. She said they "drove, and drove, and drove" that car until the transmission gave up in the late 80's. Kind of funny haveing an old lady intrested in what year your car is. Right when I got done talking to her, some guy in a truck slowed down and said "cool car!".

Then I finnally got around to going back to that 70' Mav in NC and talking to the owner today. That started out with wheeling and dealing with him on that 70' and slowly turned into talking about Mavericks in general. Turns out this guy has had 4 of them since he was in high school, a 72', a 73', and a 74' Grabber, and the 70' I was trying to buy from him. He really seemed to like ours, I guess because it was also a 74' Grabber. I ended up standing there talking to this guy for a good 3 hours about Mavericks, Comets, and cars in general. The guy knew the completely history of this 70'. He said come back with 400 bucks and it's ours. (y)

Yeah, I just love how many times I've heard the Boss Maverick stuff. I always get those people asking questions at gas stations, like what year it is. I think that's just their way of starting a conversation, then I tell them I also have a 75 Comet that's almost perfect, and a 69 Mustang with a 460 in it.

At the cruise- ins I attend , Almost every time I end up explaining to some guy who asks ..."Man how`d you get that big ol motor in this thing":49: while looking all down into the lower part of the engine bay.

I tell them "Its just a 302...the Tunnel ram makes it look bigger...this car CAME with a 302".:yup:

Then sometimes they say "Oh so its a Boss?"
