My 4-speed Toploader will lock up between gears if I baby it out of reverse...even though I have the shifter adjusted correctly along with new shift rod bushings. I just got to remember to shift firm coming out of reverse
Exactly, when I finally figured the jamb out years ago, reverse was the key to never getting in that situation again. Wasn't the shifter, wasn't setting the stops (never actually did that with any of my toploaders) it was simply paying attention to what I was doing.
