i have put 4 thousand on the motor myself, the guy told me he rebuilt the motor and it had about 500 miles on it
One more thing the seller wasnt honest about.Replace that chain...Its old and done. I dropped a valve in the bore once doing seals...Fortunately the piston was up high enough the valve didnt drop out of the head completely.Talk about a butt clenching moment... It was a 4.6 in a crown vic to boot.
I pulled the distributor out a few years ago, and the oil pump shaft lifted out with it, then promptly fell into the oil pan. Took forever screwing around with a magnet to get it out.
thaty would have been fun pulling the head and cam and getting it back in time. In all seriousness thats why I don't like ohc engines
You could have just left that thing in the pan. It wasn't going to hurt anything in there. The parts house has more sensors.
Is it completely impossible for him to hit a big pothole or speedbump and have it bounce up into the rotating assembly? I would have torn it down to get it out, or whatever I needed to do. I would never have felt comfortable driving with something floating around in my oil pan.
I had Piston skirts in my oil pan on one of my cars, from all eight pistons! Motor ran fine though...just a little piston slapping going on in there, not worth rebuilding cylinders were egg shaped, that was back in 84' Glad you got it out ok, they make a nice little tool it's like a claw on the end of a flexable shaft with a control on the opposite end...mine is about two feet long so I can reach way in there! :16suspect Not with it drowned in oil. It could maybe if the oil was low enough, but at that point, you'd have lots of other metal parts loose in there to keep it company
