I carry a hefty insurance on the Maverick/trailer/tools, but still don't like to leave it alone in some motel parking lot...........usually try and find someones shop to lock it away in during the race weekend if I'm not close to home. That's really great about 4 generations of racers...........my Dad (when he was alive) was a mechanic, and good one, my Grandfather was a decent automotive machinest..........so I guess it's just in my blood. Been racing for some 40 years and started out with an SS/IA Chevy Camaro, then graduated to a 68-1/2 Mustang Cobra Jet...............got too expensive to be even close to being competetive..............those were the real glory years of drag racing...................I miss that...........now just want to go out and have fun.
Amen Btother! It's all about having fun now...and I'm having a blast! I have more fun running the DOT "street car" events than anything. Heads Up off a .500 Pro Tree...and I have a blast. Totally different crowd on those Friday nights than on the next day at the bracket races. You wouldn't believe how many kids come up asking about my car...just shooting the bull...talking about my car, and their rides. A lot of them are into some of the imports...or domestic econo cars...but I try to leave them with a positive impression about all this car stuff lol. Some of them are pretty sharp...others...not so much lol...but at least they're out there putting it on the line...and I can respect that!
