I guess I'm slow tonight. I didnt think about closing the valve then pressing the brakes to do the burn out. This sounds like a good idea. Will the line lock blead down after a couple days or does the valve seal that good?

If it is a good product no, it should not bleed down. I will test that thought though.

I don't know if it is standard for forklifts/forktrucks but all four of the ones that we have where I work have some some sort of line lock valve for the parking break and not one of them works worth spit. What happens is if you park on any sort of incline at all it will bleed off very slowly with a little pop, then the lift will move about 1/2". The next time it will pop and move a full inch before the seal seats again. I am not sure how old these are but that is my experience with line locks.

Well seeing as how no one has yet posted where I need to measure what for the possible complete volvo rear axel housing swap I am nust going to have to measure mine in the next few weeks so I can figure this out.

If your going to swap the hole rear end you need to measure the length from end to end to see if they are the same. You will also need to check the bolt patterns to see if they match or just have 2 different bolt patterns front and rear. Another thing to look at is how the drive shaft mounts to the yoke. If I remember correctly the volvo uses springs and control arms so leaf spring perched will need to be welded to the volvo axle. Also if you want a parking brake you will need to figure out how to connect the cables.

Thanks Rx. If I understood this guy that came into work recently the volvo should require only the most minor mods to bolt up. Ofcourse I don't have a welder or a cutting torch and most of my tools are metric but hey I am getting there.

Hey Mavman, did you use the "spacer" they speak of in this article? http://www.mustangandfords.com/howto/28733/

    How about you, Dan?

I am going to be doing this swap next week or so, and was wondering what your experiences were with this spacer. Thanks!

No, I didnt put the spacers on. I sold the car as it was....new owner knows that it needs them. I actually drove it some without them and had no issues...but I don't suggest running without them.
