I am sorry but i disagree with you. Is street racing dangerous , Sure is. Is any form of racing dangerous, sure is. It all depends on who, where, why, and when.
Busy downtown traffic not a good idea. Open road two guys at a light no cross streets. I say game on. I do not like Hondas myself but I would rather they raced street(within reason) or track instead of getting hooked on dope etc.. I also guarantee that everybody does something that is frowned upon by somebody else. So I say do what makes ya happy.:D (y)

I'm old skool. Street raced many weekends in Los Angeles with a club called the L.A. County Street Racers. Still have my colors and memories. We would block off streets and race. We were organized. We had hundreds of people out for a race. Portable Xmas tree and safety staff. Never saw anyone hurt, but the impromtu races and teenagers are an accident looking for a place to happen.

I haven't street races in more years then many here are old. I've been heavely involved in legal racing since the 70's.

A light to light race will happen, but every weekend you hear about the carnage on the streets. Ok so you may wait a bit to run. BFD! At least you have a better chance to live to run again on a track. Just last week my cousins friend was cut in half by a crotch rocket racing on the street in Vegas.

Sorry, but there is no excuse to street race in a populated area.

I was referring only to the NC Patrol. I wasn't racing.

Not pickin a fight. But you say it is wrong to do yet you did it? It does not matter when. Organized or not a street race is a street race. like I said before all kinds of deaths have occured from various types of racing. Legal or not.It is part of the american culture, always has been always will be. Again I am not saying it's right just that what is, is. Kinda like cigs and alcohol everybody knows it will kill them yet they do it. In fact way more deaths linked to those then any racing casulities.
    ;)

In my younger days I engaged in some street races (25 points, lost my license twice for 5 months, drivers school, retake the drivers test). They always occurred downtown at night. I figured that was probably safe, Then one night I saw a little kid run out from between two parked cars and almost get hit by two guys that were "matching up". I wouldn't want that on my conscience.

Perfect idea about bracket racing John. I want to spank you:slap: at the track. Your time against mine. Russ you wont have to wait at round-up . They thought I was running a nascar car. Too much fun. :bananaman

If you have a low 12 second car, you will beat just about every production car ever made in the quarter. Since the Viper is geared to do 160 or more, it's quarter times won't be as impressive as the horsepower stats would lead you to believe. Change the gearing and you can change the results.

BTW, I think Vipers sound like crap with performance exhaust.

    Sounds great MaverickGrabber:D

BTW when i raced said viper I only had a 3.00 open but normally have 3.80s(after 7 or 8 years of abuse finally went to posi heaven) So that would more than likey put me around high 12s or low 13s give or take. However I will admit yet again the viper pulled me on top end like I was sittin still.(somewhere around 110mph)

I know I was wrong, i just didn't have the respect for life then as I do now. No one does when they are young. I was just a teenager back then. I agree that street racing is a part of our culture and the basis of the sport of drag racing. As we get older, some of us just get smarter. I to am not pickin a fight and welcome everyones opinion. We all have experiances to share and a position on a given topic. That is just one of the great parts about this board. We get to share and voice our opinions.
