The only problem with starting fluid is when you use too much. It can break the rings when it explodes in the cylinder. I have heard it said you could have zero compression and still run a engine on starting fluid. I would say thats where the "getting Addicted' to starting fluid came from. Also, never use it on a diesel with glow plugs. It will explode as soon as the glow plugs light up. Just a short spray at a time, crank, then repeat before cranking again. If you have spark, it will fire. Another use: Spray some in a tire that doesn't want to seat on the rim [with the valve core removed ]. Stand back, toss a lighted match on to the tire. BOOOM!!! Quickly put air chuck on tire and inflate. Have done this many times with truck tires, car tires too. Best to watch somebody first that knows how to do this without blowing their head off....definately dangerous! DO NOT TRY THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!! EXPLODING TIRES CAN KILL OR MAIM YOU FOR LIFE!!!
Seating tires with the use of starting fluid works great. I've seen it used several times on monster trucks. I have also used wheel bearing grease......messy ,but it worked
