    more news bad and good

ok doing some research today this is what i found out. for me do take on this project and to do it in Poly is a NO GO! why? cuz after thinking out cost and what i'd have to sell like 200 pcs to make my money back! and we all know that's not going to happen!

however i'm i think i'm going to do this in fiberglass.. it is just alot eaiser and cheaper in cost! now would you guys still be interested? the cost should be some where close to the spoiler and shipping well you know the story on that cuz it longer then the spoiler! probably about near $200 to low $200 shipped! now i know you can get these from UP for like $59 bucks... well i don't need to tell you what you will get! when i take on a project the stuff will fit... not like OE! very close! but it will fit better then anything else you will get out there.. that i can tell you for sure if you don't belive me just ask someone who has bought something from those guys.

i can also do it in CF but cost will be probably about the same differance betweent he carbon spoiler and FG spoiler... these i would only do custom order.

anyways whats the verdict i'd like to hear from you guys.

    also QUESTIONS!

    1. is the front called a valance and the rear a roll pan?

    2. maverick1970 said 69-1/2 to 72 are differant then 73s if so why is differant?

what year is it off of... and how much you want for it?

I would probably purchase a pair in fiberglass, maybe even a pair in carbon fiber!

Question from me too:(and please dont laugh at me)
I havent really compared a maverick and a comet too much in this sense, but are these parts the same on both cars?

Count me in. Offer to help with mold costs still stands.

I would like a CF set of stock valance/roll pan for normal driving and a sacraficial set of fiberglass modified valances for racing.

My understanding is that the 73 bumper is larger than the 69 1/2 to 72 bumper and is a single year item. As such the lower valance is about midway between the early valance and the 74-77 valance in size. Maybe someone with a 73 can post a set of clear pictures of the 73 valance so we can compare to what we already have available?

I wouldn't think of laughing at you for this question. (Especially since I had to pull up more than a few pictures to confirm the answer!)

The lower valance (front) is the same on the Maverick and the Comet of the same years. The same goes for the rear valance (aka roll pan).

Roll pan is a term normally used when refering to the panel used to clean up the appearance of the back of pickup trucks after removing the bumper. Either term is appropriate and correct for the panel in the rear of the car.

Picture the opening in a 69-72 valance...
Just about as tall as the turn signals, and only about half as wide as the valance.
The 73 is open from end to end, a little taller opening too.
Then, where the earlier valance comes to a slight point, the 73 is flat and straight all the way across.
A 73 valance will bolt onto a small bumper car, but the opening looks huge and the bumper has a point, while the valance is straight.
A LOT of dead air down there when a 73 valance is on a small bumper car.

Now, how much for a set, front and rear, in CF?

I need a set, I prefer CF for durability.
    Lay it on me!

i guess i'm having a problem picturing this.. anyone got some photos? will the 72 fit and not get in the way of a 73 if ou put it on a 73?

i don't have a full price yet until can get one to mold and get the finshed product.

No price yet okay... I understand.
I don't have the dough yet, but will, you consider a set sold... Probably CF though, like I said. I am willing to pay a premium for the Spabber. ;)
Probably get a set of FG ones from you later for the 75.

What are you getting for the CF ducktail?
I need another. Might put the stock one on the 75 and use CF on the Spabber if I can weasel some more dough together.

On the 73, I have never seen an early valance on one with stock bumper. Just know the 73 valance doesn't look good with the small bumpers.

    Wait a minute!!!
    You have 2 73s, don't you?
I was going to attach a pic of one of your cars to illustrate the valance to compare with an earlier one... :)
I don't think I will do that now.

$250 for CF ducktails plus shipping. (see my website page: http://www.maverickman.com/Store.html) please note the end caps will only work on 73 and below cars.. well unless you converted it to a small bumper car. also the bottoms of my end caps will need to be trimed depending on year 69-72 vs 73. let me know if you want them i'm making the second batch now... should be done in about two months or so maybe sooner if i can get my butt off this computer! e-mail me about any other questions you have on it.

as far as the 73, yes i have two. but i have never bothered to look at a 72 and below to see the differance. either way it sounds like the key is to get the 69-72 valance duped cuz it will fit on the 73 no matter what and you probably won't beable to tell anyways. though i would still like to see one.

    Yeah, 69-72...

The 73 is totally open and has no shape to it.
