Dan , Just wanted to check with you on a few things:

    1) Do you have a correct 50oz. Flywheel for the new engine ?

    2) Does the new engine have a reverse rotation water pump like the Mustang would have had ?(for serpentine belt use) If so you `ve gotta change it to use your maverick V-belt set up.

    3) Do you have a STEEL distributor gear on the distributor you plan to use?
the roller cam requires that you use one .

    4) Make sure to check out the crank pulley alignment with the other accesories
due to the new harmonic balancer may have a different width than your old one.

    5) In order to have a dip stick for the oil ,you must change the timing cover for one that has the hole for it.

If you already knew all this stuff ,I`m sorry for listing it but I figured if you didn`t know it would really help to find out NOW!

Thanks for the Heads up on everything M.A.V. I had researched the differences and also spoke with Total Peformance at Ford Motorsports about the swap as well. My shopping list consists of the following:

Two Piece Fuel Pump Eccentric - $30
    Engine-side z-bar Mount Bracket - $70
164 Tooth 50oz flywheel drilled for early style clutch - $199
    Steel distributor Gear - $45

Total Performance/Ford Motorsport has everything necessary for the conversion.

I'll also need to plug the air pump holes on the back of the heads and the oil dipstick hole in the block (J-B Weld?)

From the current engine I'll be swapping the timing chain cover, water pump, oil pan and pickup, valve covers, dizzy, fuel pump, intake manifold and carb.

Derrick , that reminds me of when I used to have a 9" center section(chunk) in my car with NO fill hole...mounted in my 1957 9" housing also with no fill hole.

I did`nt realize this until the center section was installed...I ended up putting the gear lube in through one of the axle tubes! lol:rofl:

Strangely enough, my roller block did not have a dipstick hole in the side of the block. Not sure exactly what it came out of, but that was one less thing I had to worry about. :)

Dan you can buy an insert for the air fitting holes that are not drilled out. They are available from Ford under part number F4ZZ-6E086-A they come 2 to a package. They are probably already installed in the holes in the front of the engine.
My timing cover came with a plug (looks like a mini freeze plug) used to block off the dipstick hole. I used mine in my block. Check with Total Performance they might have them if not check the parts stores or Ford engine builders.

They have a strange thread on them. These work great and sit flush to the head.
