Welcome back to the Madness of Old Cars! They say that wisdom comes with age. I don't know about that. I still do a lot of dumb things where the old cars are concerned and I am quite a bit older than you. Blame it on the Madness!

Come join us at Silver Springs in Jan in Ocala. Many Mavericks and Comets will be there.

    Jim

Thanks all glad to be here!
Yes I could tell you some stories about my Maverick days (btw is there a thread for that? lol)
Interesting little history on the 71' Grabber I have coming down from Indiana...the guy states he has the ORIGINAL 71' title that I will be getting, he says he bought it from the first owner of the car and he has not registered it (title is open) would that actually make it a one owner car? hehehe and me being the second owner? also possibly the sticker from the window is still there along with as he states "some interesting paperwork"...this car seems to be all original and complete right down to the maverick gas cap! I think I got a good deal for $1200.00 for the car and $400.00 to get it brought down to Florida. I will know more when it actually gets here on Sunday the 31st. it will be a happy Halloween.
Now the hard decision is do I restore it or do I ModRod it? hmmmmmmmmmm let's have some input here.
Ohhh sorry forgot to say the 8 track tape player is still there too lol anybody got a matchbook I can use?

I vote MOD! That's what gets the most attention if that's what you want. (y)
As for value, I again say MOD! Our cars do not have a tremendous resale value even when fully restored. We have seen several modified cars here lately that have had asking prices of $20,000 or above. Of course I haven't heard of any of them selling yet. Anyway, just build it like you want and don't plan on making any money on it if you ever sell it. :Handshake

:Welcome: I think most if not all of us former owners felt that same way when we got another Comet or Mavercik years later.

Well here I am almost 20 years later missing my Grabbers! (The guy I sold them too wrecked them in two weeks and had them crushed. I guess he couldn’t handle the power) I have found another 1971 2 owner Grabber that I am getting shipped down here from Indiana, I feel like the love of my life is coming home.

    Mod it. Cragars and sidepipes.

Welcome aboard! This site should be pretty much all you'll need to get that car right. It's the best reference source on our cars anywhere.
