Oh sure we can. We don't need to know what you look like to make fun of you. BTW, other famous Rays: David Ray Harris & Ivan Ray Murphy. Both executed in TX for murder. Oscar Ray Bowlin, Fl murder. Ray Lewis, other than playing football, a menace to society. And last but not least, James Earl Ray.
Thanks gang, parts list on this one... Thanks everyone!! Hope to see many of you again this coming year. Here is a list of goody's in/on the Mave. Keep in mind many details of the engine are due to rule limitations of IHRA, as I always get a few questions such as "Why don't you port the heads??? for example... Reason- it's prohibited in IHRA Stock Eliminator. (& hey I'm glad, it keeps an already pricey class from getting even worse. -Block:302 hydraulic roller block .030" overbore (rulebook limit .070") -Crank: 5.0 stock, stock rods (with ARP bolts, stock parts mandated here, but internals are balanced. Always recommended above 6000rpm!) -Pistons: stock weight, flat top 4 eye brow pistons (forged from Speed Pro) these must be/are identical factory replacement pistons. -Heads: GT-40P with stock valves sizes (though stainless steel , IHRA allowed.) (NOTE: you may not want to try this at home as the GTP heads require custom headers on the driver's side on Mavs & Comets!!!) with stock rocker arms (no rollers and it will sustain 6500rpm) -Camshaft: is a hydraulic roller with .480" lift at the valve and some 250+ degrees of duration @ .050" valve lift (300+ degrees advertized at .004") by Crane... (a new custom cam from Comp is on Christmas wish list ) C-4 transmission with an 8" converter flashing around 4500 rpm (I build these myself). 9" rear end with 4.11 gears and 28x9 MT slicks.. MSD ignition, though I've used Mallory with success also. 750 DP Holley (max allowable, airflow mods are prohibited, though jetting changes are encouraged) and a Vic Jr Intake (IHRA rule allows any unmolested cast aluminum or iron intakes that fits under the stock unaltered hood)... 6 pt roll bar (installed by yours truly, its a two weekend gig, let me tell ya) I have held 6 IHRA National Records over the past 4 years. Currently I hold none . However, i just freshened up my heads, will be trying some new parts including a different torque converter, and be after the K/CM record once again , with possibly others to follow, come Feb (Rockingham) or (Carolina Dragway) in March. Best et's to date 1/8 mile 7.52, 1/4 mile 11.95. Stay tuned as hopefully there will be much more to come... Hope Santa brings more go fast goodies from my list ... Thanks again for the warm welcome! Look forward to meeting many of you at FFW's this year including Atlanta GA, Richmond VA, and Bristol TN... Any of you can look for me at IHRA Division 9 races this spring as well (schedule is on IHRA.com)... Raymond.... BTW- I finished 3rd at the IHRA national in Budds Creek Maryland back in Sept. Thought you guys would want to know. Look forward to hearing from ya Scrapper...
You can bring your ride to the Round-up Nationals in July and race for the most prestine prize of them all........Maverick/ Comet 2005 drag champion! Seriously, car sounds real sweet.....them rules are tough to go by. Say you build converters or tranny's?
