great looking engine bay and motor. Two questions...where did those vc's come from (trick, trick, trick) and the headers. Who built those beautiful headers?

The Valve covers I am clueless on but I suspect they came from a specialty place that deals with 302 boss and or cleveland stuff. The Headers, I believe were made by hand by our local "FabGuru" Thomas Hackman . I have built several sets of headers and know the patience it takes and the skill. It appears I will be fabbing up a set for my brothers 73 maverick with a built 331 as I am having spark plug clearance issues on the drivers side. The heads are aluminum Protoplines. I am sure Mr. Hackman can elaborate a bit more:cool:

tom did make a set of his own, however he mentioned to me that he found a set of the motorsport covers and decided to use them since he needed to make a few more modifications to the ones he made so they would work( sorry if i spilled the beans tom);)

Wow you guy have it all right :D To make a long story longer, I found those Valve covers on E-bay and did not bid on them. I did some seraching and found out that they were 80's cover for trans am racing/nascar. They have a stud gurdile built in to covers, they came with long rocker studs, self locking nut, copper washers and acorn nuts to seal the cover. Since I did not need the stud girdile I thought I would make some copeis.

After making the copeis then buying more valve train parts I noticed I had made a huge design error and would more than likely have to make another set and start from scratch. I got lucky and found another set on e-bay and won the bid for $270 way more than I wanted to pay but, they would give me the look and save alot of time.

What was the error you ask? I made the top side perpendicular to the head sealing surface which makes the cover hit the guide plates and rockers. most cleavland style covers are at an 85-80 degree angle tward the intake manifold.

Sorry for not posting sooner I was working on the car and had to work the Air Show
