I'd be for both groups, as I've never really had any bad tidings with the MCCI. Anything that's pro Mav and Comet has my vote. :) That said, I think someone needs to change their roundup times for the reason Terry pointed out, any splits shouldn't penalize those who would like to be part of both groups.

Good luck with the new group, keep us all posted!! :D

i don't see where anyone said this was a racers only group. i saw where it was said that the "maverick mafia" was a subgroup within the mcg for racers, however i am a racer and could not put my name into something like that. JMO.

No offense Don, but there are multiple definitions for Mafia. This is the one I think it is meant to be.

mafia - any tightly knit group of trusted associates

MCG, Maverick Mafia...Either way I'll support anything to further the Maverick/Comet brothers! The racers only subgroup just sounds like something I'd be into to!

The MCCI is not in competition with any car club, past, present, or future. We do our own little thing in hopes that the majority of the membership enjoys what we have to offer. So far its worked beautifully. There is already more than 1 Maverick / Comet club out there and I belong to that one too. There's room for everyone.

i think the whole definition from the american heritage dictionary is: 1) a secret terrorist organization in sicily, operating since the earl 19th century in opposition to legal authority. 2) a secret criminal organization of italian origin operating in the united states and engaged in illegal activities such as gambling, drug dealing, and prostitution. 3) any of various similar criminal organizations, especially when dominated by members of the same nationality. 4) often mafia(informal) a tightly knit group of trusted associates, as of a political leader "(He)is one of the personal mafia that (the chancellor) brought with him to bonn". (christian science monitor) . sorry, but i personally find it offensive. i will not say another word about it. you know my feelings

I'm sure it will be a good club, there's nobody doubting that. It's just that the club is only now beginning and already some potential sources of conflict have arisen in scheduling that could lead to bigger problems. As a Mav/Comet fan, I am fully in support of all groups who for these cars, I'm just hoping that the clubs can be supportive of one another as much as can be allowed, and don't start being competitive simply for the sake of spite.

I'm sure it will be sorted out before next year (there's lots of time until the 2007 Gathering and/or Round-up) and I'm glad that this thread hasn't degenerated. I may not be an official member of the MCCI but I do love this board and group of people, and fervently hope such a move goes well.

I'm an MCCI member, but I don't know much about what it does. I don't go to the Roundup because it's too far away. I get the Newsletter, which I like, but that's about all.

We tried to have a mini-meet out here, and hardly anyone (including me) showed up. So what's this new club going to do that the other one doesn't? You're still planning a Roundup (by any other name) in Kentucky.

You say you're not competing with MCCI, but you sound like you're doing the same thing.

I agree with Terry in a way. I have NO IDEA what the disagreements are. Maybe if we all knew about the issues, we could discuss, vote, etc. I support any new groups, because anything to do with these cars is great - but I'd hate to see anything affect the club negatively. This post is the first I've heard this.

like a few of you have said, I dont know the issues between members of each group, and Iam willing to support both, but I would think that one large group would be more affective than smaller ones. I personally think it would be a good idea to make these diffrences public, not so we can chose sied or bash one person or another, but to maybe come to a reasonable solution. Im sure those involved would be wiling to put aside personal diffrences for the betterment of the group.
