Thanks for the advise. I diddnt mean to sound like I have no experience drag racing. I managed to get a 4 cylinder mustang to a tire spinning 13.70 @ 107 O.K. Its an SVO but I think it was pretty impressive. I just have little experience with the C-4. I have never liked autos so the 5-Speed is comming soon. I am thinking of putting in a higher stall converter (2500 or so) but why bother? I am putting heads/cam/intake/gears in in two weeks. I just got the timing chain in today. Got the adjustable pushrod checker and am ready to go. I hope for 13s in the 1/4 with the stock stall but from what I understand it's not likely, so I ask anyone who has a similar set up what his did.

You probably already know this but....

When racing my Maverick, I never let it shift on its on. I start out in first, and go to around 4,000 then shift go to around 80 mph, and then shift again. The first day I put my motor in, I ran the quarter at the local hideout, and when the car shifts on it's own, the best I could get was an even 95 mph. When I shifted on the second run I got 103 out of it in the 1/4. No times yet, but I have a similar build except mine is 308 and has a bit more cam, but just stock (ported/polished/shaved heads). Keep in mind that those speeds were on a highway stretch, and that the motor was NOT broken in. Now that it is broken in, I hope to get a bit more out of it. I 've been trying to get to the dragstrip for 4 weekends in a row now, but I keep getting rained out.
Oh BTW: Just an interesting note, I got the Maverick up to around 130+ mph the other day on my way to the emergency room. My dad had a skill saw kick back and bite him. He lost one finger (L pinky) and cut into the oter three on that hand. I'm guessing it was 130+ ( the needle was a good ways past the 120:rolleyes: )
I don't usually drive like that, but I was in a hurry. Country

Hey, hows your dad Country Mav? I have been in a similar situation a few weeks ago my friend cut the tip of her finger off in an onion slicer at a fast food place where she worked.
I am currently stalking my friends 67 Fury with a modded 383 and 3.91 sure grip, for my Mavericks first post surgery meal.
