cutting off your stock muffler and replacing it with a turbo wont do anything to give it a performance sound.

it definatly aint going to sound anything like that green stang

cut the muffler off and fit a glasspack in somewhere

Big bullet muffler from Apexi (dunno where that apostrophe goes). There was a 75 Mav with one down the street from me when I lived in Wilmington. Sounded almost import ricerish. You can find 'em at any old auto parts store.

That sounds like a VW...sorry. A LOUD VW. A 6 just sounds like a VW. No way around it. That is why the wife's convert mustang keeps it's stock exhaust system.

But GLASSPAKS will give it a throaty feel, even though it still has the VW sound.

I have run a Chevy Luv truck 4 cyl, Suzuki Samurai 4 cyl, 280ZX straight 6, and my mav V8 on glasspaks and been happy each and every time.

But there was not really enough room for dual glasspaks on the V8 mav, so I went flowmaster.

So I vote Glasspak. and only $25!!!

Not at all stock. But I have seen a few I6's on about the same level as far as modifications go, and they still sounded like old motorboats.

That said, I came across a video of a Cougar with a totally stock 289 the other day, it sounded virtually the same as my 200 in the video I posted. Don't know what exhaust it had. I'll have to see if I can dig that video up again.

so whys the turbo getting so many votes? havent seen too much posted in its favor?

once you get the v8 in why would you need mufflers to make it sound better? thats not the kinda ssound you want to muffle or alter.

    headers, all day, everyday ;)

My '75 had a glasspack on it.Kinda annoying going through the gears.I put a stock can type muffler out next to the tank(like stock)and left the glasspack on it too(it was up under the rear floor).Quiet sounds best to me if it's not a v8.

I have to say some of the louder 6 cyl exaust I have heard sounds terribly like an old John deere, or some other kind of tractor, if not done right.

I ran a Flow master on my Ranchero w/a 200 (built to about 175hp) and it sounded GREAT. Set off car alarms as I drove up the street, but on my Mav w/a 250 I have a 12 inch glass pack just behind the bumper and removed the stock muffler. Sounds good and still sets off alarms.

My son says;"If ya think it's too loud, you're to old".
