Try the flowmaster with the tailpipe, I dont think it will be that bad. If you want to try a good performance muffler, check out Borla's affordable line, Pro XS. Straight through, all stainless, lifetime guarantee, They are real quiet, but have a deep tone. They amaze me, you can look straight through them but if you scream in one end, a whisper comes out the other side.

i love my 40 series with 3" all the way back. the drone in my car is loud, but that was before the dynamat sound deadner, so i dont know how bad it will be now....the sound resonance is different at different speeds.... at 60 mph (c-4) it's quite loud, at 55mph it's in stealth mode...1,200 to 1,400 rpms sounds the loudest, it's not, but seems that way... sounds like a cessna coming up the road at that rpm

for everyday driving and weekend trips it's a lot of fun to hear your engine purr....

but after driving it to greensboro and back in a round trip one time, i was going bonkers....

40 series is about as loud as it gets since it's a 2 chamber, you can always go with the 1 chamber race series... hehehe....

it's preference. i like the loudness.... but it's nice to hear your radio every now and again too...

Do you know if the resonance is significantly reduced or not with the Dynamat installed?

    fordguy,

the dynamat does help a good bit. it also helps with the radiant heat from the tranny and the roof. (black car)

of course the sound will still come in through the windows even when up, but not nearly as bad as before.

but i have the dynamat throughout my interior, so theres not much other places it could come in from.

In a few months I plan on installing Dual exhaust with Flowmaster 40 series mufflers, off the manifolds. It will be run and dumped simaler to Maverickman's blue Maverick. I hope it sounds good. Any opinions or advice?

honestly, after driving around with it for a while it's not that bad. Mind you, I don't even have any good insulation yet. Dynomat is next on the list. It's only on initial acceleration that I get the drone. After that it's pretty good. I still can hear my radio well and even with the windows down it's not that bad. So I think I'm keeping it!
