If i recall my first Maverick a 1977 4-door (the Deadboy Maverick) did not have the Maverick name on it anywhere but did have the Ford letters on the hood and trunk lid. I really can't say what the gas cap looked like because it was replaced with an after market locking one when i got the car.
Thanks :Handshake '77 Mavericks says FORD across the front lip of the hood along with the trunk, and there are no emblems on the grille...no side markings either. I dont think this cap is original, the emblem is crooked though
That's easy. The hoods and trunk lids all interchange from one year to the next. They could have been swapped out at some time or another.
I guess for 1977 Ford was just using up the last of the old parts,...... well i'm sure there was still lots of Pinto taillights left.
