    SumoPatrol,

Actually it does get pretty humid for the desert 40-50% humidity. Secondly in the San Fernando Valley which is approx. 1500 feet lower in elevation the humidity can be anywhere from 50-90% humid with 105* heat! However it could always be worse. A/C is a luxury and I for one can live without it. For whoever is looking for the A/C the vintage air is a good way to go.

Thanks for the info, she had told me about it one time but the old mind is drifting these days. Don't get up there but once every ten years or so. Dirt tracking is my real passion but like anything else, is just memories now.

A good friend of mine races World Of Outlaws sprints, and I-55 is his absolute hands-down favorite track. I now know why. A while back we were up at Belleville for the Racer's auction put on by Charlie Sentman and after the auction on sunday he took me out to I-55. I couldn't walk up the banking---it was a crawl-only deal. He says it's WOT all the way around when the car is set up right.

I did see the drag strip too, but he let me know that it had closed down. Too bad...it'd be neat loading the Mav in the back of a 48' Freightliner and showing up at the drags AND the roundy-round races.

It's a neat track. I have been to a World of Outlaws Sprints event at Pevely and discovered two things. One is that you keep the foil wrapper from the burger you bought to cover your beverage of choice, if you don't, your likely to have some chunks of mud in your cup. Second show up early so you can sit higher in the stands to avoid number one. A piece of cardboard with a hole cut in it makes a goad shield for the mud balls.
BTW Old Guy and Elliot, Pevely is about 35 to 40 miles south of St.Louis off Highway 55. So I would estimate that Sullivan is about 70 miles from Pevely. Elliot my wife and I have several friends and some family living in Sullivan. We have a very good friend that works for the Municipal Courts in Sullivan and her Uncle lives in Sullivan also.

About the A/C. Since I did the V-8 swap, I left off the A/C because of the power loss. Riding with the windows down is great!.............sometimes. Here in Louisiana days and nights are MISERABLE without A/C Anytime you have 100+degree temp and 90-100% humidity and vinyl seats, it is not a comfortable ride. Not complaining so much as explaining why we like A/C down here. In the deep south, it gets HOT! Even at 5 in the morning, you walk outside and start sweating. So, I am now in the market for new A/C parts, I will deal with the power loss with other little goodies. I'd like to not spend the money, but have you ever given a hot girl a ride in your car with no A/C? Ever wonder why she didn't want another ride? CAUSE SHE STUCK TO EVERYTHING!!!!!!! (At least that's what she told me.........:D) Preston
