You just went through that carb didnt you??? It has rust in it?? you have a rusty tank...Its plugging up the fuel filter...Its plugging up the carb and the fuel strainer ib the tank is probably plugged or rotted off to boot.Jack the left side of the car up so you can pull the fuel sender without pouring fuel on the ground(or your self)You should just drop the tank and clean it out/treat it to stop the rust issue.
Dont listen to Darren...LOL... He's only been doing this stuff 20 something years...:rofl2:

but my gas shoots out of the hose clean and clear... makes me think that the sediment in my reservoir didn't come from the tank. carb cleaner shot through the filter just fine too. I will check what comes out of the line again and run a magnet through it just to be sure (I have alot of gas in my tank cuz I filled it to 3/4 for the alignment, wanna eliminate all else before I go spilling gas all over my parent's garage). You guys know I'm a novice by comparison and am not discarding what you guys are saying by any means. I'm just brainstorming out loud with you and really really crossing my fingers and praying that it's not a tank issue. It still hesitates if I give it too much gas from idle after replacing the fuel pump which makes me think the other problem isn't fixed either. could this be a choke issue? it was adjusted by my neighbor who restores triumphs, but he doesn't know our carbs that well. idk. I'm gonna go magnet some gas. At least this has given me a reason to put all of those fresh parts in so I don't have to worry about them in the future... geez, I can't find a smiley to go with this feeling lol.

your right. rusty gas. :badwords::badwords::badwords::badwords::badwords::badwords::badwords::badwords::badwords::badwords:. gonna go smoke a cig, hope the fumes from my hands and clothes combust, and then ponder what to do with this gas cuz I don't have a second tank to put it in. :badwords::badwords::badwords::badwords::badwords::badwords::badwords::badwords::badwords::badwords:. I wanted all of this stuff to go wrong at some point cuz the fun of this car is in fixing it. But not when I'm stuck living at my parents house and have supposed to move out and leave town yesterday for the past three weeks. I don't like having a deadline with this thing cuz it takes the fun out of it. As soon as I can get the car up the mountain deadlines won't exist. It can be fun again. sorry for the stress guys. uh... cig, then figure out what to do.

Its a typical problem with these cars Phill.Deadlines do make for a problematic and less than enjoyable experience though.Perhaps you should just leave it where it is till you can devote a few days to it without a deadline.Sometimes you just have to walk away and re-group.Take a break and hit it with a fresh perspective in a few days.Of course if this is your only mode of transportation at the moment, crunch time generally s%#!$.Wish I had a solution for you,Good luck man.

If the car runs fine at lower speeds, just drive it a couple days and miraculously, that fuel level will drop (y)

When i first got my car, it had 1/4 tank gas, and the rest of the tank was a rusty mess.

I drained out the gas, it was about 15 years old, and had that sweet smell of rotten gas.

I pulled the tank out and put a bag of pea gravel into the tank, and shook it for a couple hours. I wish I had a cement mixer to just let those rocks roll around in there and knock off all the loose rust.

Following that, I cleaned it out with soapy water, dried and followed by a little acetone.

Then ordered a kit from Bill Hirsch (800)828-2061 www.hirschauto.com This kit had an etching compound and then a two part, white epoxy paint @ 24.00. I would have liked to use 2 qts of the epoxy if I would have known better, just for a thicker coating.

Coated the entire inside of the tank with it by just sloshing it around until fully coated.

Never seen rust in the lines since.
