John's Maverick got my vote & I'll encourage everyone I can to vote for him. Subaru fans should stay on Subaru fan sites. You guys can hit the road, hopefully in something better than a P.O.S. Subaru!

Thanks for your forum's support over the last couple of months. I also hope this race will be clean and fair to the end! :)

If we did that, then how could we learn to appreciate the other vehicles on the road?? Ignorance is what leads to intolerance. I'm certain there are faster cars, there are safer cars, there are more luxurious cars, and while that may be, it doesn't mean I have to demean others for what they choose to drive.

Personally, I drive a Subaru SVX. They are a rare breed of car. Just like the Comets and Mavericks, and we enjoy the comraderie and uniqueness that makes our cars special. I didn't come here to insult anyone, rather to clarify our position on the fairness of the voting.

Why all the hatred?? I think it's rather   that we have that much control over how you feel about a car!!

Here is what TL said in post #64
Here is how Chiketkd quoted in post #66 and then said you must be talking about a sti. Even the price? Compare the two:confused:
Then Ford_Motorheads quoted TL in post #68 correctly like this
Now Chiketkd, please use the qoute thing the right way without deleteing somethings and changeing others.
I have been in on this thread from the beginning and reading. You have been a gentleman from the beginning about it, saying you have not ecouraged foul play in voting on your board, and not talking smack about our cars. You can't control the people on there what they do, just like the people on here can't be controled. And I see your admin sf.com admn has been nice as well on here.
Now the guys on here, you may get mad at me here, but some of us have not been to polite about their cars and things. We like our stuff and they like their stuff. When I(we) go to car SHOws, I think we can all appreciate all the makes no matter what they look like. If we all liked Mavs. We probably wouldn't have the ones we do have because there wouldn't be enough to go around.:49:
Now Chiketkd, its funny you SHOwed a pic of the STI. I was on the way back from a car SHOw Sat with my 75 Grabber and a STI gradually cought up to me on the highway. He wouldn't look at me when he passed. When he was far enough a head to get over, he floored it and got over.(unnesasary) He clearly wanted me to do something to put me in my place. Now I'm not stupid. The Grabber looks fast, but it is all stock with 122hp. Now if I was in one of my SHO's, I would have gladly played. But that is a different board I belong to. But I didn't get on that board and post anything about it.

So in closing with famous words "Can't we all just get along":rofl2: and respect each others rides because that is what we like.(y)

Yikes! We're out numbered by the Japs, guys. I see they're stretching their lead.

December's round is sounding pretty good now. :drink:

I used the quotes correctly. If you look at the post of TL's I quoted, he edited it later on...:2cents: (EDIT: specifically post #64)

While most Subaru owners are cool, laid back guys like me and my sf admin, some wrx/sti owners are just young ricers drivin' around with their parents money... Just ignore them.

I also would like everyone to get along. I know a lot of older Ford muscle is forgotten by the younger crowd these days. I always got attetion with my SVT Lightning at the track, but some guys drivin' beautifully restored Torino's or Maverick's wouldn't even get a 2nd glance...

    Here's a pic I snapped of a beautiful Torino before it ran 11.53 @ 115mph! (y)

I just think it's rather arrogant to come here with a holier-than-thou attitude :162: and suggest that we would cheat somehow. Lord knows they are better people than we are and surely would not stoop to that level. It's also rather arrogant to say we should settle for second best and go for it another month.

Personally, I have a lot more admiration for a man and his 30-something year old car than I do for someone with a car that anybody with the money can walk in and buy at any given time. It takes a little ingenuity to work with the limited resources available to the Maverick/Comet owner, as opposed to the turnkey car at your local dealership.

I'm nearly guaranteed to see a Subaru STD or SUX or whatever it is any time I drive down the road. So the WOW factor just isn't there. Sorry if I don't jump for joy every time I see one. We can talk when your car is 30 years old. I respect your right to be impressed with your Subaru, but peddle your B.S. somewhere else. I'm not buying it.

Now go out and hug as many Subarus as you want. I don't care.

More than likely you have never even seen a picture of a subaru svx, much less seen one in person. Production numbers were limited to just over 14,000 in the 6 years they were sold in the US. Compare that to over 2.5 million mavericks sold and you can see we face quite an uphill battle when it comes to resources. It may be just another subaru to you, but it is a hand built, limited production Giugaro designed grand touring subaru to us. :)

I drove my father in law's comet cyclone to the prom 12 years ago. Beautiful fast car and I wish he still had it today. Good luck with the dragtimes contest. :)

Very well put. The aftermarket for the SVX is non-existent...
