i don't think they planned it as a remake per-se, but it's just two different takes on the same material. Know what I mean?

I watched Last Man on Earth yesterday. This plot was very similar to Omega Man ... except the dead did come back as Zombie Vampires that feared Garlic and Mirrors and there was also a "family" intent on starting a new society (like Omega Man) who had some sort of vaccine that prevented death although they still had the plague. The stars were all named Robert ... although Last Man had a different last name ... and they were all scientists working on a vaccine. Last Man and Omega Man die the same way and Last Man was called a Legend because he was the only man out during the day killing off the zombies. All the movies have the last man going out with a map canvassing the city and killing off the undead ... I Am Legend still had the weakest plot IMHO ...

I think it all boils down to which style of movie you prefer. Plus you've noticed I'm biased as a massive Vincent Price fan. BTW- I don't remember- did omega man show him trying to help his wife until she dies and all that? I remember it vividly in the book, and there was a few parts of it in The Last Man on Earth......

There are no wife flashbacks in Omega Man ...
