I have a list, and there are less than 10 things left to do.......all little things...I hope :16suspect
Ahhhh.....Lists!!! I still have my list. There are still 2 items on it that I never completed. Congrats, Dave. Seth
Well, I just drove it around the block, I'm a little disappointed, I didn't want to build another race car, I wanted a driver..this car is crazy, it just wants to go!! I thought the tranny was slipping, but my neighbour informed that it was the tires spinning, and found one small oil leak, seems to be coming form the fuel pump, so I guess I'll have to pull the power steering pump off to get to it once it cools down.
I only have 5 things on my list to do: Comet GT 57 Ranchwagon Mav convertible 71 Mav 57 Ranchero Shouldn't take more than a lifetime to complete.
Not to be mean but you are pushing 50 something...... You could always "will" some of that stuff to the younger guys to finish for you
Kids! I'm a couple of years from sixty - and my kids are hoping and praying that I will leave some cars for them......... but I'm going to live long enough to wear the cars and kids out!
60, holy cow..I'm closing in on 40, and I never thought I'd get this far, another 20 yrs is a long time!! But I guess the "Seniors" discount at Bob Evans will be worth it! Oh yeah, my fuel pump is bottoming out on the oil pan lip, so it won't seal tight to the block, it's hammer time, unless I double up the gaskets and see if it clears....
Time for a set of M/T ET Street Radials. Man, I am so impressed with those tires. I bet ya can't spin them...and they look good too.
I'll be trying it again tomorrow night. Went this past Friday and made 3 more passes. First pass was 7.30 and it went bad from there. Second pass, I missed 2nd gear and didn't know what was going on till I tried it again (7.80). Third pass...misses 2nd again, then I realized something was up when the clutch pedal stayed to the floor after I got it in 3rd. Still got a 7.94 time. Made it back to my spot, jacked it up, crawled under for an inspection only to find my factory z-bar had broken loose at the weld. Saturday morning I had the fun job of changing it out...and that is not a fun job on a car with headers. I was fortunate enough to have a spare though and finally got it in. Planned on hitting the track again Sat night but got rained out. I really wanna try hard to get this thing in the 7.0's or possible 6.9's. I'll keep ya posted.
Ray, You might want to reinforce that Z-bar, especially if you have upgraded the clutch. I had to in my first Comet. In "normal" driving (like I ever drove it slow ... ) it was OK. After the clutch was broken in, I started pounding on it and the bar cracked and kept getting closer to the floor ... Welded some gussets on it and it was good for the next four years I had the car, and it had a stiff Hayes street/strip clutch in it. Thinking about that clutch still make my left knee quiver ...
I'm seriously thinking about getting the stuff together and converting to hydraulic. I'm running a Centerforce clutch and pressure plate which is very easy to compress. It doesn't seem any harder than a stock setup. I did notice that the z-bar I took out had been welded on before. The one I just put back in has not. I can remember running the old Zoom setup years ago and they were horrible on stock z-bars. That may be what happened to this one in the past. If I don't wind up going hydraulic, I will certainly build/modify a better z-bar in the very near future.
Dave, good luck getting it Roundup ready. It looks and sounds great, can't wait to go for a ride in it.
