Mr. Pollard, Your heads are probably NOT the problem. You are using 351 W heads and a 302 intake - they have different shaped water passages and your leak is probably where the two meet. The 302 has a "square" hole and the 351 heads have an "L" shaped water passage. you might have to get a special intake gasket to make the match-up. PaulS
Thanks for the replies everyone. I found the problem with the head. It is a pin hole in the exhaust side of #7. Wouldnt have noticed it without a pressure test. For such a small hole it is dumping a ton of water. I am assuming that the water in the oil is leak down from around the piston rings when it was sitting over night. Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix a pin hole in a exhaust runner?? We are going to try to "spray weld", but if you have better suggestions I want to hear them!! Thanks everyone. JP PS. I may be wrong, but I think by using a 77 302 block and 69 and 70 351W heads you get rid of the water passage alignment problems. Mine at least are identical to the pattern on the 77 302 heads. Good advice though, especially with later 351w heads.
I don't know how to fix the problem with the pin hole so unfortunately I won't be any help. I just wanted to tell you... something kinda obvious but sometimes when working on projects like this its sometimes easy to get fed up over little errors. After you fix the pin hole problem. Remember a lot of coolent is going to be still coming out the exhust pipes so run it for a good while afterwards to make sure you get all the collent out before you can confirm the fix. I've known a few people who have had simalar problems. They fix the problem, fire the car back up and get hot headed that it didn't work when its just left over fluid in the pipes that is coming out the next time they fire it.
