blugene, you are more than welcome to come down some weekend and make a set, just bring some steel i am all out. should only take about 4 or 5 hours to make a set. i hope i still have the templates.
i dont know what you call them. they have a loop on one end that you can put your finger through and pull them out and a small round piece at the other end sort of like a socket wrench. go to http://www.mpgheads.com/catalog.htm and click on export brace. they show a couple of different pins on there.
Those turned out good! You can get the quick release pins from Jegs. Can I get a copy of the templates?
those are nice quick release pins. i think they would not work on mine.i have a single plate where they have a bracket on each side.as far as a copy of the templates i have to make sure i did not thow them away. when i make something, i throw away once i finish.
Did you find them templates? What kind of steel do I need? Will you be available for the time-4 or 5 hours? Will there be a boss to watch out for? (work or home ). I have tools for working and building with steel, if we should need any. Can we get the required other parts on the weekend or do we need to get those before? My car isn't running at this time, so if you think the kit will work without me having to drive it, then I'm ready when your ready. Thanks fan2488, Gene Have A Gate Day!
gene, yes i found the templates. any weekend is fine i always go there on saturday. no boss, its in the shop where we keep the cars. i still have some round bar, just need 3/16 flat stock about 12"x 12" a little bigger if you have it,and a piece of 1/8" about 6x6. im not sure to be honest, made mine from scrap. will need the ends, let me know when you are comming, and i can pick them up and you can pay me back when you get here (approx $60.00). wont need your car we can use mine to make sure they fit. you can call me if you need to cell # 281-808-6071.
Looks Good! I made a Monte Carlo brace for my Mav. the other day. It looks just like yours except it does'nt connect to the shock towers. I used a tubing bender to shape the bar. The end plates were a pain to shape so they would mount as flush as possible. Turned out pretty good though. Don't have pics yet. It also took me about 5-6 hrs. to fab.
finally got my powdercote machine, up and going today .so i powder coted the brackets i had made.had to paint the monte carlo bar it's to big for the oven. now just have to finish the rest of the engine.now i'm thinking of all kinds of things to powdercote.
So does that mean I can come down and pick up that set I was wanting?:bananaman (make mine gloss black, lol) Looks good! Where does the 1/8 get used?
on the sides of the monte carlo bar. i thought you was comming down to make a set. i am thinking of making a set to put on e-bay.
Yea, I'm still wanting to come down. Just thought that you might decide to make it ready for pick up . I have been kinda busy making some iron/steel panels for this couple. They have chosen 1" solid pickets for this patio enclosure and it's been a pain, almost done though, it's at the powder coater right now and I'll be installing this next week, so, I would say you and I will be meeting each other in a couple of weeks. So if you have the time to make a set... I am willing (able) to pay for it, uncoated. You know, if I new where to get those ends I might be tempted to try to fabricate something myself, then come down and compare .
